Our Vision: Prefect will define automation for the context era.

Our Mission: Curate an intelligent context layer that delivers the right information at the right time.

Our remote first company is singularly focused on this vision and mission, and every team member directly contributes to their advancement.

Our company operates both open-source and commercial offerings, partnering with Fortune 500 companies, data innovators, and fast-growing digitally native startups. We are looking for folks who want to join a remote-first team #LI-Remote to continue building an equally amazing company, product, and developer community.

What You'll Do

Drive Prefect's event strategy from conception to execution, converting our developer communities into commercial revenue through authentic technical relationships. You'll own the full lifecycle of our event presence - from identifying the right conferences to attend to designing world-class developer-focused experiences that pull data engineers, MCP/Context engineers, and AI/ML engineers into our ecosystem. Build the PyAI brand through strategic community engagement while leveraging Prefect's physical spaces to increase community and customer impact that drives our product-led sales motion.

Strategic Event Management:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive event strategies across all Prefect products, including program mix, calendar planning, and audience targeting

  • Partner directly with leadership team to ensure alignment on event priorities and presence

  • Own budget planning, ROI measurement, and performance reporting for all event initiatives

Event Execution:

  • Lead execution of hosted and sponsored events across global markets - managing logistics, budgets, vendors, and onsite operations

  • Work cross-functionally to coordinate speaker preparation, booth presence, and attendee engagement

  • Design experiences that showcase Prefect's platforms to data engineers, ML engineers, and other developers

  • Manage multiple events simultaneously, attending key flagship events while remotely coordinating logistics for others

  • Own end-to-end execution of customer advisory events in partnership with product and sales teams

Community & Program Leadership:

  • Launch and manage online community initiatives including forums, user groups, and ambassador programs

  • Build contributor programs that engage technical practitioners in content creation and open source participation

  • Create engagement strategies that bridge open source users with enterprise customer opportunities

  • Oversee full event lifecycle from driving registrations to post-event lead nurturing across all developer events

Your Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years managing developer communities and events, with progression from execution to strategic leadership

  • Background in developer advocacy, developer relations, or technical community building—you're someone who can credibly engage with engineers, introduce technical speakers, and hold your own in conversations about Python, data infrastructure, or AI tooling

  • Proven track record launching and scaling community programs (forums, user groups, ambassador programs)

  • Experience working with technical audiences in infrastructure, DevOps, API, or data engineering spaces

  • Strong metrics-driven approach to community growth and engagement measurement

  • Background coordinating with engineering and product teams to amplify technical content and thought leadership

Ideal Background:

  • Experience with developer-focused companies in infrastructure, DevOps, or data technologies

  • Genuine curiosity about AI trends, particularly the MCP ecosystem

  • Track record growing technical communities through forums, events, and content programs

  • Has organized both large-scale conferences (1k attendees) and intimate developer meetups

  • Comfortable speaking at technical conferences and representing the company to developer audiences

  • Strong program management skills with ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and measure community impact

  • Experience building ambassador/contributor programs and community-led initiatives

  • Background in both community growth metrics and enterprise customer engagement

  • Preference for candidates based in New York or Bay Area, where many events will be concentrated
