Work Schedule: 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday (AU Time)

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: A well-established Australian business operating in the building improvement and asset maintenance space. Delivering project-based solutions focused on the refurbishment, enhancement, and upkeep of existing commercial and public-use facilities. Their work commonly includes upgrades to operational spaces, internal fit-outs, make-good works, and external infrastructure improvements across sectors such as education, healthcare, and other institutional environments.

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support the preparation of accurate and commercially competitive tenders for building improvement and refurbishment projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience supporting Australian construction projects and who is confident working across multiple live tenders in a remote setup.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Australian delivery team to review project documentation, assess scope requirements, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and prepare detailed cost estimates for submission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project information provided by the Australian team, including site photos, videos, drawings, specifications, and tender documents, and prepare accurate cost estimates from initial pricing through final submission.
  • Break down tender requirements into individual trade packages such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, tiling, mechanical, and fire services.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain, manage, and follow up on quotations.
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotes based on cost, scope coverage, exclusions, delivery capability, and overall value for money.
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering documentation, and project specifications.
  • Perform quantity take-offs using tools such as Bluebeam Revu.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns by trade and project element.
  • Identify commercial, scope, and delivery risks and escalate concerns where necessary.
  • Support subcontractor negotiations to align pricing with project requirements and commercial targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of tender activity, pricing files, subcontractor correspondence, and submissions within internal systems.
  • Provide estimating support for minor works, project budgets, and ad hoc pricing requests.
  • Collaborate closely with the Australian delivery and estimating teams throughout the tender lifecycle.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, ideally within the Australian commercial or government building sector.
  • Proven experience pricing fit-outs, make-good works, refurbishments, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Direct experience working with Australian-based construction companies, clients, or subcontractors.
  • Demonstrated experience obtaining, reviewing, and levelling subcontractor quotes.
  • Strong understanding of Australian construction trades and tendering processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, and project specifications.
  • Hands-on experience performing quantity take-offs.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple live tenders and meet deadlines.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Bluebeam Revu, EstimateOne, SimPRO, and Procore.
  • Previous exposure to projects within healthcare, education, and public infrastructure sectors.
  • Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Background in subcontractor negotiation and risk assessment during tender stages.

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up via an Employer of Record (EOR) service.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work.
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile.
