Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support AWS-based cloud platforms and related systems (Linux/Windows, networking, databases) using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, serverless technologies, and Kubernetes
  • Develop automation and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python) to solve technical challenges and create reliable, cost-effective solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across distributed networks, web services and APIs (REST), DNS/TCP/IP, and databases to ensure highly available and scalable applications
  • Collaborate in a startup environment, pursue continuous learning and certifications, and provide 24x7 on-call support as required

Job description

You will deliver technical solutions using cutting edge technologies and industry best practices to implement and administer cloud platforms for 56Bit’s customers. The Cloud Engineer promotes the use of automation to solve technical challenges, and strives to create elegant, reliable and cost-effective solutions as part of a project or task deliverable.

  • Design, Implement and Support systems related to the following technologies:

    • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    • Linux and Windows servers
    • Bash and PowerShell Scripting
    • Infrastructure as Code
    • Web services and APIs
    • Distributed networks
    • Databases
    • CI/CD and DevOps
    • Python Scripting
    • Highly available and scalable applications
    • Serverless technologies
    • Kubernetes and similar technologies
  • Troubleshooting and solving technical problems, during office hours and/or outside office hours as part of a Support 24x7 roster
  • Learn and get certified in new technologies


Requirements

Technical Requirements
  • 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on system administration experience
  • 1+ Associate level certification in AWS  or have the knowledge, experience and willingness to get certified within a month of starting with 56Bit
  • Linux System Administration & Bash scripting
  • AWS Well-Architected Framework
  • Web services, API, REST
  • TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP and distributed networks
  • Database experience (SQL and/or NoSQL)
  • Terraform
  • CI/CD   (AWS Code Services, GitHub, Bitbucket and/or GitLab)
  • Basic experience in at least one programming language (Python preferred)
  • Work experience in infrastructure, database and network administration for highly available and scalable applications

Would be considered an asset
  • AWS Serverless technologies
  • Kubernetes
  • Associate level AWS certification(s)

  • Customer obsessed

  • Willingness to work in a start-up environment while serving medium to large enterprises (usually multinational corporations)

  • Passion to learn and get certified in new technologies

  • High-level of written and spoken English
