The Role
As an SSAT/ISEE Tutor at Crimson, you will work with ambitious students across the US, Asia, Australia, and Europe who are preparing for admission to competitive US boarding and day schools. Your work will be central to their applications.
Core responsibilities:
Delivering high-quality, exam-focused 1:1 tutoring sessions on a frequent, weekly basis
Preparing students for the SSAT and/or ISEE through structured, curriculum-led instruction and targeted practice
Strengthening foundational skills in verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, and writing as needed
Advising students on the broader boarding and day school admissions context — how scores are evaluated, what schools are looking for, and how to approach the process strategically
Maintaining clear, timely communication with students and families outside of formal sessions
Who We're Looking For
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from a top 30 U.S. university or global equivalent. Current master's students are encouraged to apply, with a strong preference for Ivy League or top 20 university alumni.
Extensive 1:1 tutoring experience in SSAT and/or ISEE — both strongly preferred
Deep familiarity with the US boarding and day school admissions landscape, including how these exams are used, what schools expect, and how to position students competitively
At least 10 hours of availability to tutor each week
Experience working with students aged 11–14, with flexibility to work with younger students where needed
A genuine passion for education and teaching — ideally with a track record of measurable student improvement
Detail-oriented, with strong planning and organisational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills — engaging, enthusiastic, and approachable
Time Commitment
Approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling
You choose which students to work with
Students tend to meet with tutors 2x per week
Compensation
Compensation reflects your professional background, expertise, and educational experience. You are paid for live session time, which includes the session itself plus preparation, session summary, and any follow-up research.
