About The Opportunity
Netrix Global is seeking a Cloud Engineer to implement and support our private cloud infrastructure across multiple data centers. This role is heavily focused on VMware-based environments, with additional exposure to alternative virtualization platforms and modern infrastructure technologies.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, understands how core infrastructure components (compute, storage, networking, backup) interact, and can troubleshoot complex issues across the stack. This is not a siloed role—we need someone who can operate end-to-end in a multi-tenant production environment, work independently, and adapt quickly while approaching problems with a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Design, deploy, and maintain virtualized infrastructure platforms
- Support and optimize compute, storage, and backup systems
- Troubleshoot performance, availability, and capacity issues across the environment
- Collaborate with internal teams on migrations, upgrades, and client onboarding
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of cloud services
- Build and maintain VMware-based environments (vSphere, ESXi, related ecosystem)
- Support and manage converged/hyperconverged platforms (Cisco UCS, Dell VxRail, Cisco HyperFlex)
- Design and manage storage solutions, including:
- Fibre Channel and iSCSI architectures
- Zoning and fabric design
- Block, file, and object storage
- Data reduction technologies (deduplication, compression)
- Snapshots, replication, and recovery strategies
- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning across compute and storage layers
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues spanning virtualization, storage, and networking
- Support backup and disaster recovery solutions and ensure recoverability of workloads
- Participate in infrastructure migrations, including potential platform transitions (e.g., VMware to alternatives)
- Document configurations, processes, and runbooks
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (approximately one full week every 3–4 weeks) to support production environments and respond to critical incidents
- Flexibility in working hours, including occasional after-hours or weekend work, to support maintenance activities, deployments, or incident response
What You Will Bring to The Table
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere / ESXi, VMware Cloud Director, and NSX-T) in production environments
- Experience with enterprise compute platforms (Cisco UCS, Dell VxRail, HyperFlex)
- Deep understanding of storage architecture, including:
- Fibre Channel and/or iSCSI
- Zoning and SAN design
- Block and file storage systems (e.g., PowerScale/Isilon, CIFS/SMB)
- Replication, snapshots, and data lifecycle management
- Proven ability to troubleshoot performance and stability issues across infrastructure layers
- Experience with capacity planning and infrastructure optimization
- Ability to operate effectively in production, multi-tenant environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical, solution-oriented approach
- Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive issues through resolution
- Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory, including administration, troubleshooting, and integration with enterprise infrastructure services (authentication, DNS, Group Policy)
- Experience with backup and recovery platforms:
- Veeam
- Dell EMC IDPA / Avamar / PowerProtect
- VMware Cloud Director Availability
- Familiarity with XenServer (Citrix Hypervisor)
- Working knowledge of Hyper-V environments, especially System Center VMM
- Exposure to object storage platforms
- Experience in multi-tenant or service provider environments
- Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell preferred)
- Working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems, including CLI usage and basic troubleshooting of system, networking, and service-related issues
Shift: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM CT, US Business hours (Central) with on-call participation. The Shift may be rotated/changed based on support coverage requirements
