  • Enforce safe construction practices and quality control, and monitor budgets, staffing, manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency and keep schedule and cost goals
  • Review contractor PCO claims for merit, negotiate final resolution, and prepare periodic progress reports; participate in coordination meetings with contractors, stakeholders, and LAWA Operations
  • Ensure familiarity with contractual obligations and technical aspects of the facilities, implement project policies (including labor agreements), and communicate effectively with management and clients

About this Role:

Consertus is seeking a Construction Manager III to support LAWA’s Terminal Development and Improvement Program (TDIP) at LAX. TDIP is a major capital program focused on modernizing LAX passenger terminals to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, safety, and connectivity.Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Location: Los Angeles, CA (LAWA).  This is not a work-from-home position.

The Construction Manager III reports to the assigned project’s Project Manager and is responsible for managing and coordinating construction activities performed by the Construction Contractor (Design/Builder and/or Construction Manager at Risk). This role leads key aspects of safety, security, quality, schedule certainty, budget delivery, and operational interfaces in an active/operating airport environment.

Multiple positions are anticipated. Submitted experience should emphasize one of the following:

  • Airport concourse scope
  • Airport headhouse scope
  • Site/civil scope

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage on-site field construction activities associated with project completion.
  • Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs); confirm required notifications are made.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with contractual obligations and technical aspects of facilities being constructed.
  • Ensure work is performed and inspected to the latest approved plans/specifications, including approved changes, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Coordinate with Construction Contractor and stakeholders to plan construction activities and identify critical milestones and priorities.
  • Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for defined scope and schedule.
  • Monitor manpower, materials, and equipment allocation to maximize efficiency and meet schedule and budget goals.
  • Proactively identify problem areas and take preventative/corrective action to protect critical milestones.
  • Enforce safe construction practices and quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports summarizing construction status for management and client.
  • Ensure implementation of policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policies.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with contractors, trade partners, stakeholders, and LAWA Operations.
  • Review contractor Potential Change Order (PCO) claims for merit and negotiate to final resolution.
  • Perform other responsibilities as appropriate to support the program.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of construction management experience (airport experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience delivering projects over $100M
  • Experience performing construction management in an operating/active environment
  • Experience with delivery methods including:
  • Design-Bid-Build
  • Design + CMAR
  • Design/Build
  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with PMWeb or similar Project Management Information Systems (PMIS)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (required)

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, or other relevant professional licensure/certifications..

Working Hours & Location: Full-time, exempt role with standard business hours.

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Location: Los Angeles, CA (LAWA)
  • This is not a work-from-home position.
  • Additional Schedule Note: May be required to work past regular work shift as needed.

Compensation Range: $156,000 - $166,400 annually; Eligible for Bonus.
