Job description

NEW OPS POSITION – JOB DESCRIPTION: REMOTE

Allied Public Risk, a Managing General Underwriter (MGU) specializing in public entity property and casualty insurance, is seeking a highly analytical Operational Programming Specialist to support and enhance our operational infrastructure.

This role will work closely with the Operations team to improve and maintain our agency management system, optimize underwriting workflows, support back-end system maintenance, develop reports, and manage data transfers across platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong technical programming skills with the ability to understand operational processes within an insurance environment.

This is a remote position with cross-departmental influence and minimal public-facing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot the company’s agency management system and related operational platforms
  2. Support back-end system maintenance, integrations, and performance optimization
  3. Improve and streamline underwriting and operational workflows through automation and programming solutions
  4. Develop, maintain, and optimize operational and management reports
  5. Automate accounting processes with parent, oversee non-automated accounting functions/collections, at times
  6. Manage data transfers between systems, including imports, exports, and integrations
  7. Collaborate with Operations, Underwriting, IT, and leadership to identify process improvement opportunities
  8. Provide technical support for system functionality and operational tools
  9. Document system processes, workflows, and programming changes
  10. Assist the organization in leading AI (Artificial Intelligence) discussions/identifying cost and time saving initiatives associated with AI.

Required Qualifications

  1. Strong coding/programming experience (languages/platforms relevant to system integration and automation)
  2. SQL experience required (other programming languages welcomed)
  3. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  4. Proven ability to analyze complex operational processes and translate them into technical solutions
  5. Experience working with databases, reporting tools, and data management
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  7. Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  8. Strong Excel skills required

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with Insurance Management Systems (IMS) or agency management systems in general, a plus
  2. Experience with Duck Creek, NetRate, and/or Vertafore underwriting programs, also a plus
  3. Experience in the property & casualty insurance industry, particularly public entity or specialty lines is not required, but also a plus
  4. Experience supporting underwriting or operational workflows
  5. Knowledge of system integrations and data transfer methodologies/tools

  1. Reports to: Operations Leadership
  2. No direct reports

  1. Fully remote

Salary Range: 65,000-85,000 USD/Per Year
