Roles & Responsibilities

Diploma or degree related to Transport, Logistics or Supply Chain Management with 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding and logistics, including business development or sales with an existing customer base
Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
Proven track record in business development or sales within the freight forwarding industry
Knowledge of Sales/Marketing, Sea and Air freight operations, cross-border DAP/DDP deliveries, export documentation, and proficiency in MS Office

Requirements:

New account acquisitions locally and internationally, including negotiating rates with carriers and transport service providers
Managing and maximizing profits of assigned accounts
Coordinating with overseas agents and ensuring smooth export procedures while developing and managing relationships with key customer accounts and carriers
Preparing and delivering sales and marketing presentations and proposals, handling air freight shipments and freight rate negotiations

Assistant Manager, Sales and Marketing

Job Location: Colombo
Working Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Saturday - 9 am - 1 pm
Working Days: Monday - Friday, Saturday 1/2 day
Work Type: Onsite (remote working unless requested to be present at the office)

Requirements

A diploma or degree related to Transport or Logistics & Supply Chain Management with 5+ years of experience in the freight forwarding and logistics industry, with similar experience in a business development or sales position with an existing customer base
Good presentation skills and negotiation skills
A proven track record of success in business development or a sales role within the freight forwarding industry
Knowledge in Sales & Marketing, Sea freight, Air freight Operations, Cross-border DAP/DDP deliveries, Export Documentation
Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint will be an added advantage

Responsibilities

New account acquisitions are both local and international.
Negotiating competitive rates with full container loads/less container loads, and transport service providers and carriers.
Managing and maximizing the profits of individual and assigned accounts.
Coordinating with overseas agents and ensuring the smooth operation of export procedures.
Developing and managing relationships with key customer accounts and carriers.
Coordinating with shippers and recovering outstanding payments within agreed credit terms.
Preparing and conducting sales and marketing presentations and proposals.
Handling Air freight shipments, freight rate negotiations, and monitoring operations.
Resolving contractual and commercial disputes.
Supporting the sales and marketing team.
Achieving and exceeding individual set budgets.
Recovering due payments within approved credit limits/days.
Monitoring monthly checklists of the department.
