Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (EHS, engineering, science, or equivalent)
  • 4+ years of experience in an EHS-related role implementing environmental, health and safety programs, standards, and guidelines; manufacturing/distribution experience a plus
  • At least 2 years of audit, compliance, and training experience focusing on OSHA, USDOT, NFPA, ISO, and EPA standards
  • Experience with EHS management systems and advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong cross-functional collaboration and influence without direct authority

Requirements:

  • Lead multiple work streams and drive strategic initiatives to support the team's and company's EHS vision, promoting continuous improvement and aligning outcomes with other projects
  • Develop and maintain corporate EHS programs, policies, and systems; partner with operations, manufacturing, legal, HR, and other stakeholders to align on expectations and priorities
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and reporting, including determining applicability and submitting annual environmental reports (Tier 2, energy usage) and leading internal (sustainability) and external (OSHA/EPA) reporting
  • Manage day-to-day operations of a team; oversee staff development, hiring, performance reviews, training, and budgetary considerations within manufacturing, distribution, or office environments

Job Summary

Responsible for leading the development and implementation of corporate safety and environmental programs, policies, and management systems in support of all Medline US locations.  Collaborate with business partners including but not limited to operations, manufacturing, legal, and HR to obtain feedback and align on program prioritization and implementation.  Evaluate continuous improvement opportunities including technology solutions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead multiple work streams with influence to execute strategic team initiatives and projects to support the team and company’s vision and goals.

  • Promote, manage, and deliver the continuous improvement of project/initiative activities amongst the team and seek opportunities to connect outcomes with other projects/priorities.

  • Display effective organizational skills and manage multiple and often competing priorities.

  • Develop and maintain corporate EHS programs, policies and systems.

  • Routinely partner and communicate with internal stakeholders across various departments to ensure clear understanding of expectations.

  • Determine applicability and complete submission of annual environmental regulatory reports (Tier 2, energy usage, etc.) to applicable regulatory agencies.

  • Lead internal (sustainability) and external (OSHA/EPA) reporting for corporate environmental and safety programs.

Management responsibilities

  • Oversees professional employees/teams OR manages non-professional employees through Supervisors in manufacturing, distribution or office environments

  • Day-to-day operations of a group of employees

  • Provide general guidelines and parameters for staff functioning

  • May have limited budgetary responsibility and usually contributes to budgetary impact.

  • Hiring staff, recommending pay increases, performing performance reviews, training and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Work Experience

At least 4 years of experience in an EHS related role; applying and implementing environmental, health & safety programs, standards and guidelines

Experience within manufacturing and/or distribution work environments a plus.

At least 2 years of audit, compliance and training experience with a focus on OSHA, USDOT, NFPA, ISO and EPA standards.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Experience in the application of EHS management systems.

  • Strong planning, scheduling, multi-tasking, and organization skills.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and facilitating teams to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.

  • Experience and skills in influencing, leading and directing individuals in multiple functional areas without direct oversight.

  • Position requires limited travel, less than 20% of the time, for business purposes (within state and out of state).

  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

Certification / Licensure

EHS related training/certifications (OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, ASP, CSP, CIH).

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.

  • Understanding of differences in work environments and EHS program implementation (distribution warehouse vs. manufacturing).

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$101,000.00 - $152,000.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
