Description:

Serve as Director for a disease program in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology (10% effort), fulfilling the following responsibilities:
1. Oversee clinical activities of faculty members in the program, including practice guidelines, research, mentorship, compliance, quality, service, scope.
2. Provide general leadership, including service and education.
3. Mentor junior members of the program, in cooperation with other leaders.
4. Encourage and facilitate academic development/promotion and diversification of expertise. Participate in regular/annual career development conferences with faculty members in the program.
5. Collaborate with related sub-specialists and investigators in various disciplines across Winship.
6. Supervise practice operations (quality, availability, proficiency, productivity, efficiency, compliance).
7. Work with nursing and administrative leaders to ensure the quality, capacity, effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of medical services.
8. Represent the program in the broader Winship and Emory communities.
9. Engage in relevant strategic initiatives (e.g., recruitment, space planning).

Basic and translational cancer research in sarcoma. Submit grant & trial proposals. Transfer to Emory and/or over 3-4 years progressively secure extramural support for 65% or more of the research-related expense of salary. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present work at (inter)national mtgs. (e.g. ASCO, AACR, etc.).
Patient Services (subject to change):
1. Outpatient: 2 weekly half-day sessions.
2. Inpatient: oncology attending and consultative services at least 2 weeks per year, subject to service needs and equity with others.
Teaching: supervise residents & HMO fellows, give appropriate/nec. lectures.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
