Job Overview

Job Title: Camp TEFL Monitor (Language Instructor and Group Leader)

Reports to: Activity Coordinator, Headteacher and at times Camp Director.

Responsible for: Groups of around 12 children.

As one of the best English learning summer camps in Spain, if not in Europe, we pride ourselves on ourselves the quality of our classes. As a summer camp TEFL monitor you are a role model, friend, instructor and hero to campers aged from 6-18 years (depending on what camp you work at). The main role of summer camp TEFL monitor is to thoroughly plan and execute 4 hours of top quality English project classes to a class of approximately 12 kids each day. Along with our excellent resources we provide an intensive training week for camp TEFL monitors and ongoing support and professional development from our mid-managers to ensure that TEFL monitors are able to succeed in creating the most fun, dynamic and learning centered project classes possible for their group of campers.

However, TEFL monitors on TECS Summer Camps don’t just teach and plan; they are also involved in other parts of the day with the campers such as supervising meal times, showers, being a part of evening entertainment for campers and they will even cover for monitors putting to bed/waking up the kids (and sleeping in the same room as them) twice a week.

Camp TEFL monitors need to be young, or young at heart, individuals who full of imagination, passion and energy in order to meet the extraordinary demands of camp work and are interested in becoming TEFL educators in the future

CAMP TEFL MONITOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Teach and implement PBL (project-based learning) up to 4 hours of English as a Foreign Language to an allocated group of around 10-13 children. (The age and level of the group will be determined before the Camp and communicated to you to assist in your planning.)

2. Plan and organize above mentioned classes, doing as much planning as you can before coming to camp.

3. Monitor the progress of the students and keep a record of progress.
