2026 Virtual Youth Conservation Crew Leader

Roles & Responsibilities

  • At least 2 years out of high school and 2–3 seasons leading youth in formal or informal education, camp, or team settings

Requirements:

  • Implement and lead the 2026 Virtual YCP program across two cohorts, including tailored interactive environmental curriculum and project-based learning
  • Lead the virtual crew and facilitate curriculum with youth on topics such as environmental issues, wildfire management, ecology, sustainability, outdoor careers, public lands, and professional development (resume building, interviewing, leadership, college readiness)
  • Coordinate meeting times within program hours to mentor youth on individual and small-group projects; communicate with Program Coordinator, Program Assistants, and fellow Crew Leaders
  • Organize and store program materials digitally and coordinate sessions with partners and panel participants; ensure availability for the summer season

In partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, MobilizeGreen is launching our 2026 Virtual Youth Conservation Program. This is a national program that will engage youth in a variety of educational and skills based activities including but not limited to: environmental education, professional development, service projects, and self-care. 

MobilizeGreen’s YCP program will provide an introduction to Conservation careers, opening doors for youth across the nation interested in pursuing green fields. 


Position Abstract: Crew Leaders will be responsible for curriculum implementation and delivery, facilitating virtual projects and activities, leading crews during program sessions, and working with youth in small groups as a mentor for individual and group projects.



Work Environment and location: This position is 100% virtual.  


Program Dates: Tentative Dates 

Monday through Friday

  • Mandatory Training: June 8 - June 19,2026 
  • Cohort 1: June 22 - July 10, 2026
  • Cohort 2:  July 13 - July 31, 2026

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with MobilizeGreen staff and and partners to implement the 2026 Virtual YCP program comprising 2 cohorts. 
  • Lead the virtual crew with your team. This includes implementation of tailored, interactive environmental curriculum and project based learning.
  • Facilitate curriculum with youth (specifically content related to environmental issues, wildfire management, ecology, sustainability, careers in the outdoor sector, recreating outdoors, public lands, and professional development such as resume building, interviewing skills, leadership skills, college readiness and more...)
  • Coordinate meeting times within program hours to mentor youth on individual and small group projects
  • Communicate effectively with your Program Coordinator, Program Assistants, and fellow Crew Leaders 
  • Coordinate sessions with others including partners and panel participants
  • Organize and store program materials digitally as directed by Program Coordinator
  • As this is a seasonal position, Crew Leaders are required to be available for the duration of the summer season.
  • Other duties as specified


Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years out of high school. 
  • This is an entry level position appropriate for candidates who have recently completed, or are currently enrolled in relevant training and education. 
  • Must be 21 years or older. 
  • 2-3 seasons leading youth in formal or informal education, camp, or team setting. 
  • Experience in environmental education and outdoor leadership skills.
  • Experience working virtually, including ability to use programs such as Zoom, Discord, Cisco's WebEx, G-Suite, and Google Classroom.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage youth in programming.
  • Dedicated commitment to expanding youth participation and engagement in outdoor learning and recreation.
  • Skilled in developing educational materials and communications on environmental stewardship, resource management, outdoor career pathways, and nature-based experiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and with others collaboratively on projects.
  • Interest & knowledge in environment/natural resource management.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and proactive.
  • Experience in a formal teaching environment preferred
