Job Overview

The Supplier Quality Manager will be responsible for leading and managing supplier quality performance, development, and risk mitigation across business unit. Develop and execute supplier quality strategies aligned with global objectives and directly lead a team of global/regional SQEs. Collaborate closely with global procurement, engineering, project team and manufacturing sites to drive supplier performance excellence. The SQE manager also act as the escalation point and accountable party for supplier quality issues within global/regional.

Job Requirements

  • Develop and implement supplier quality strategies, annual plans, supplier metrics aligned with global supplier strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure global supplier quality activities effectively support BU business goals, NPI pace and operational excellence.
  • Manage the global/regional SQE team for supplier assessment, supplier routine activities, supplier ranking, supplier selection, and supplier surveillance.
  • Set clear team and individual goals, provide on-going coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster team expertise and SQE competencies – problem solving, risk management, auditing, quality tools and skills and communication.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative skills, be able to motivate the team members to achieve organization goals.
  • Fully accountable for supplier quality performance (supplier incidents, supplier related customer complaints, supplier response, NPI performance, supplier audit etc.)
  • Supplier performance management – scorecard, audits, supplier ranking and QBR to drive suppliers’ development and continuous improvement plans.
  • Supplier quality qualification audit and approval process for new suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policy and QMS requirement.
  • Promote the adoption of advanced quality methodologies and tools among suppliers.
  • Risk management and pursuit of flawless NPI quality from suppliers.
  • Act as the escalation point, decision-maker, and fully accountable for global/regional supplier quality issues.
  • Act as the primary interface for supplier quality matters within the global/regional building and maintaining effective collaborative relationships with procurement, manufacturing plants, engineering and project functions.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize global/regional supplier management process, tools, and systems. Ensure the activities comply with company policy and QMS.

What your background should look like

Educational Degree   B.S. degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Professional Experience

  • 10+ years in the quality or engineering field. 5+ years’ experience in supplier quality leadership roles (Communication, Automotive…)
  • Logical thinking and fast response.
  • Experience of work with multinational corporations and managing global/regionals team preferred.

 

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrated skills in a matrix environment.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • In-depth Knowledge on specific product and process (e.g., Molding, Stamping, PCB/PCBA, diecasting, bulk cable …)
  • Expertise in SQE core skills and APQP process, include but not limit to APQP, PPAP, FMEA, CP, MSA, SPC, R@R and 8D.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully improving supplier capabilities and performance.
  • Ability to lead and manage complex, cross-functional and cross-geographical projects.
  • Ability to work across cultures and countries effectively.
  • MS, SAP, Presentation skills
  • Coaching skills
