Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a Legal and Compliance Associate to support an Australian-based law firm advising businesses on a broad range of commercial legal matters. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in commercial contracts, legal research, and corporate advisory support, with a strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced legal environment.

Exposure to Technology Law or Energy Law will be considered a strong added advantage, particularly in matters involving technology-driven businesses, commercial technology agreements, or energy and renewable energy sector clients.

This role will involve working closely with senior lawyers to draft and review commercial contracts, conduct legal research, assist with corporate transactions, and provide day-to-day legal support to business clients.

Experience working with Australian commercial law matters in an outsourced or remote legal services environment will be highly advantageous.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising commercial agreements, including service agreements, NDAs, supplier contracts, and SaaS agreements.
  • Conduct legal research on Australian commercial laws, regulations, and case law.
  • Support senior lawyers in corporate transactions and due diligence processes.
  • Assist in identifying legal risks and compliance requirements in commercial agreements.
  • Prepare and organize legal documents, reports, and case files.
  • Support internal teams and stakeholders with day-to-day legal queries and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records using legal research and document management systems.
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to efficient delivery of legal services in a remote setting.
  • Assist with matters involving technology sector clients or energy-related legal matters where required.


Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Law and Attorney qualification (or eligibility) is mandatory.
  • 1–3 years of experience in commercial or corporate legal work (law firm or legal services environment preferred).
  • Basic experience in drafting or reviewing commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Familiarity with legal research and corporate/commercial legal concepts.
  • Strong analytical, research, and drafting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a team.
  • Exposure to Technology Law or Energy / Renewable Energy sector matters will be considered an added advantage
