What does a day in the life as a Collection Specialist look like?

Manage and collect outstanding balances from assigned customers via phone, email, and written correspondence.
Research and resolve customer disputes and payment discrepancies.
Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and customer interactions within the collections system.
Generate and analyze aging reports to identify overdue accounts and prioritize collection efforts.
Collaborate with sales and customer success teams to address customer payment issues and improve the overall customer experience.
Process and apply customer payments, ensuring accurate posting to accounts.
Identify and escalate potentially uncollectible accounts to management for further action.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

What are the required qualifications for a Collection Specialist?

2 + years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related field.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to negotiate and resolve customer disputes effectively.
Proficient in using Excel/Google Sheets and Microsoft Office/Google Suite products
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Experience using ZenDesk and Salesforce.
Familiar with with Googlesheets/Excel.
