Roles & Responsibilities

  • At least 3 years of experience in an Australian accounting or tax practice.
  • Strong bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoicing, and general accounting experience; advanced MS Excel skills; experience with Xero, XPM, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Practice Ignition.
  • Active workpaper preparation experience; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong communication and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of Australian accounting and tax processes; familiarity with payroll and BAS/GST/PAYG/FBT compliance; experience with payroll and regulatory requirements; CRM experience a plus.

Requirements:

  • Perform accurate reconciliations (bank and general ledger), maintain supporting workpapers, and prepare client reports and financial statements.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and invoicing with strong attention to detail; ensure accurate recording and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and regulatory requirements; assist with BAS, GST, PAYG, FBT, payroll support, and audit processes as needed.
  • Provide operational support including NDIS invoicing after training, proactive communication of issues, and independent task execution within deadlines.

Position Title: AU Accountant
Work Set-up: Work From Home
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM PHT
Salary: Php 70,000 – Php 85,000
Holidays: QLD AU Holidays

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and dependable AU Accountant to support one of our Australian-based accounting clients. This role plays a key part in maintaining the accuracy of financial records, ensuring reconciliations, workpapers, and financial data are properly documented and aligned with Australian accounting standards.

The ideal candidate has strong Australian accounting and bookkeeping experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining proactive communication with the team and clients. You will work with financial data at both a detailed and strategic level—ensuring accuracy while identifying potential issues, discrepancies, or opportunities for improvement.

We are looking for someone reliable, organised, and proactive, who takes ownership of their work and consistently delivers high-quality outputs within established workflows and deadlines.

Your Responsibilities as an AU Accountant

Accounting & Financial Management

• Perform highly accurate reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
• Prepare and maintain complete and accurate workpapers to support financial reporting and compliance.
• Manage bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing with strong attention to detail.
• Prepare client reports, reconciliations, and financial summaries in a clear and organised format.
• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Conduct variance analysis and investigate discrepancies or unusual financial trends.
• Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and documented.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
• Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.

Compliance & Tax Support

• Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with BAS preparation, GST, PAYG, FBT, and other tax-related obligations.
• Support internal and external audit processes when required.
• Provide payroll support and ensure compliance with Fair Work Australia regulations.
• Maintain organised accounting documentation and ensure workpapers are audit-ready.

Operational Support

• Support the business owner with foundational accounting functions for client financial management.
• Participate in NDIS invoicing after training is provided.
• Communicate proactively with the team regarding issues, discrepancies, or client queries.
• Review financial data critically to identify potential improvements, risks, or operational gaps.
• Work independently while ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within required timelines.

Qualifications as an AU Accountant

• At least 3 years of experience working within an Australian accounting or tax practice.
• Strong experience in bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoicing, and general accounting functions.
• Active workpaper preparation experience is highly preferred.
• Solid understanding of Australian accounting and tax processes.
• Strong attention to detail when working with reconciliations and financial records.
• Ability to analyse financial data while understanding both detailed transactions and the overall financial picture.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to flag issues early.
• Experience with Xero, XPM, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Practice Ignition is strongly preferred.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Experience with ActiveCampaign CRM is a plus.
• Highly organised, reliable, and accountable in delivering work.
