Roles & Responsibilities

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of security experience with HIPAA, NIST, SOC2, and HITrust controls
Experience with Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud security, DevSecOps practices
Certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, CCFP, or CISM

Requirements:

Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive health information (HIPAA-aligned) and lead security initiatives
Provide security leadership within the Security and IT Operations team, guiding risk-based decisions and incident response
Implement, monitor, and improve cloud security controls across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including IAM and access management
Support regulatory compliance efforts (HIPAA, NIST, SOC2, HITrust) through security controls, audits, and secure-by-design practices

Job description

Security Engineer
100% Remote within certain states

JOB SUMMARY: The Security Engineer is a member of the Security and IT Operations team focused on ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive health information. Given the regulatory landscape (e.g., HIPAA) and the importance of protecting patient data, this position requires deep technical expertise and strong security leadership.

TOP TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Relevant experience for at least 3 years - may substitute for education.
Experience with Cloud Service Providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP
Experience with Microsoft Entra, Active Directory, and AWS IAM administration
Experience with HIPAA, NIST, SOC2, and HITrust security controls
Current information security certification (CISSP, CSSLP, CCFP, CISM)
Experience using Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban
Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows) and network protocols.
Familiarity with cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevSecOps practices.
