Job description

This is a remote position.

JOB SUMMARY:

Genesis Consulting has an opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst to join our team and support a project to provide Cloud-Based Data Management, Administration, Warehousing, and Analytics Support and enhance existing data analytics solutions and drive modernization and efficiency. The focus is on creating a centralized, secure, and interoperable data environment that aligns with IT modernization efforts and leverages emerging technologies.
All solutions shall establish basic data conventions and standard procedures for data handling, mapping, and modeling across agencies to be implemented which will ensure quality, consistency, interoperability, and usability resulting in clean and structured data sets that are Information Technology (IT) ready and usable. It shall also clearly illustrate procedures to aggregate existing data from numerous distributed databases into a single RDBMS or similar type system that streamlines the use of data in decision-making.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business Analyst will play a key role in gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements while translating them into functional specifications to ensure alignment with project objectives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong analytical skills, and is committed to driving process improvements and enhancing data governance across federal agencies.

Data Collection, Harmonization, and Governance
• Gather and document business requirements for data collection, integration, and governance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data models and architectures align with business needs.
• Support the standardization and optimization of data across various platforms.
• Assist in identifying data gaps and recommending solutions for better accessibility and usability.
• Work with SMEs to validate, enrich, and document data transformations for quality assurance.

Data Analytics and Reporting Support
• Assist in the migration of reports and data from legacy systems to cloud-based analytics platforms.
• Define business intelligence (BI) and reporting requirements for dashboards and visualizations.
• Work with technical teams to optimize report performance and ensure accurate data representation.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics for analytic applications.
• Provide input on AI/ML use cases and data modeling strategies.
Agile Development and Change Management
• Document and prioritize requirements for analytic work products in an Agile framework.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and stakeholder review sessions.
• Validate and document changes in data workflows and system enhancements.
• Support testing, validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for new data solutions.
• Ensure adherence to data security, compliance, and governance policies.
Business Process Optimization
• Develop process flows, SOPs, and governance documentation for data management.
• Support automation efforts for data pipelines, dashboards, and reports to improve efficiency.
• Work with end users to ensure successful adoption of data visualization tools.
• Assist in creating training materials and user guides to facilitate self-service analytic stakeholder



Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in a public sector or federal government setting.
• Proven experience in gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into functional specifications.
• Strong understanding of data analytics, governance, and reporting tools, particularly in cloud-based environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in applying them in project settings is a plus.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Data Science, Information Technology, or another related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Ability and willingness to obtain security clearance.
