Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field

  • Deep understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques; proficiency with Python, R, SQL and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch; experience with data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Hive) and extensive experience designing advanced technical assessments and conducting technical interviews

  • Develop and continuously update advanced assessment criteria and interview questions reflecting current data science trends and tools

This is a remote position.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Assessor/Interviewer specializing in Data Science to join our team. This advanced role involves evaluating technical candidates for various senior-level data scientist positions, ensuring they meet the highest standards of technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and cultural fit. The ideal candidate will possess a deep expertise in data science methodologies, tools, and practices, along with a strong ability to mentor and guide the technical assessment process.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct comprehensive technical interviews and assessments for senior-level data scientist positions, ensuring a thorough evaluation of candidates technical skills, experience, and cultural fit.
  • Develop and continuously update advanced assessment criteria and interview questions to reflect the latest data science trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the HR and data science teams to understand complex role requirements, desired skills, and team dynamics, tailoring assessments accordingly.
  • Provide detailed, actionable feedback and recommendations to the hiring team, playing a key role in informing hiring decisions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science technologies, tools, and practices, ensuring that assessments remain current and relevant.
  • Facilitate in-depth technical workshops or discussions to evaluate candidates’ hands-on skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Mentor and train junior technical assessors/interviewers, providing guidance on best practices and interview techniques.
  • Ensure an exceptional candidate experience throughout the technical assessment process.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data science roles, with at least 5 years specializing in senior data science positions.
  • Deep understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques.
  • Proficiency with programming languages and data science tools such as Python, R, SQL, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, ggplot2, and Tableau.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate complex technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to provide constructive feedback and mentor others.
  • Extensive experience designing advanced technical assessments and conducting technical interviews.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest data science trends and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certifications in data science or related fields.
  • Significant experience in a technical hiring or technical assessment role.
  • Leadership or managerial experience in a data science team, with a proven track record of mentoring and guiding team members.
  • Experience contributing to open-source data science projects or communities.
  • Familiarity with data engineering and data pipeline technologies.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for data models and algorithms.
