Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking an enthusiastic American English Online Instructor to provide remote instruction in American English language skills, covering grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and conversation. The instructor will deliver engaging online lessons tailored to students of varying proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced, helping them develop confidence in speaking, writing and understanding American English.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lesson Planning & Delivery:
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons focused on American English language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
  • Teach grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, idioms and conversational skills through interactive methods.
  • Incorporate cultural aspects of American English to enrich the learning experience.
  • Use multimedia tools (videos, articles, audio clips) to aid in language comprehension and engagement.
2. Student Engagement & Assessment:
  • Monitor student progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet individual or group needs, catering to different learning styles.
  • Encourage active participation through role-play, discussions and real-life scenarios.
  • Facilitate conversational practice and pronunciation exercises to build confidence.
3. Administrative & Technical Support:
  • Track attendance and maintain accurate student records.
  • Manage class schedules and coordinate session rescheduling if needed.
  • Provide technical support for accessing course materials and online platforms.
4. Parent/Client Communication:
  • Provide periodic progress updates to students or parents.
  • Address student or parent inquiries promptly through email or virtual meetings.
  • Share recommendations for self-study and supplementary learning resources.


Requirements

1. Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Linguistics, Education or a related field.
  • TEFL/TESOL certification is preferred (or other ESL certification).
2. Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience teaching English (online or in-person), ideally with a focus on American English.
  • Prior online teaching experience is preferred.
3. Skills:
  • Native or near-native fluency in American English.
  • Strong understanding of English grammar, phonetics and American cultural nuances.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using online teaching platforms and virtual classroom tools (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).
4. Technical Requirements:
  • High-speed internet connection, a computer with a webcam and microphone.
  • Familiarity with online tools, whiteboards and multimedia for remote teaching.
