Job description

This position can be remote in the United States or hybrid in our American Fork, UT office 2-3 days per week.

Job Summary

The Sr Vice President of Software Engineering serves as the executive technology leader for all North American applications and integrations at Henry Schein One. This role is responsible for defining and executing a cohesive technology strategy that drives innovation, scalability, and operational excellence. The VP ensures that software and data solutions not only meet current business objectives and priorities, but also positions the organization for future growth, competitiveness and digital transformation.

What You Will Do

Software Engineering, and Collaboration with Architecture:
  • Oversee all aspects of North American software development, ensuring delivery of scalable, secure and high-quality solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, driving cross functional collaboration with architecture, Security, DevOps, product management, and business stakeholders.
  • Champion modern development practices, design patterns, and data-driven and AI-enabled approaches to accelerate innovation and efficiency.
  • Act as a customer advocate, identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability, performance and user experience.
  • Provide relentless focus on quality and improving quality rates.
  • Lead engineering organizations through AI transformations.
  • Own all technology budgets, resource allocations, and operational efficiencies, with the ability to evaluate and justify technology investments in terms of ROI, risk, and strategic impact.
  • Provide oversight for technology governance, architecture, and compliance, ensuring alignment regulatory, security and industry standards.

Strategic Leadership:
  • Define and execute a cohesive technology strategy aligned with business objectives and digital transformation goals, balancing short-term delivery with long-term innovation and scalability.
  • Establish offshore talent pools via EOR and captive methods.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders (leadership, sales, product management, marketing and business development) and external stakeholders (customers, partners) to drive product innovation, service expansion, and market competitiveness.
  • Serve as a senior leadership team member, shaping enterprise strategy and representing Henry Schein One as a trusted technology and industry thought leader.
  • Drive adoption of emerging technologies and advanced analytics, identifying opportunities to transform operations, products and customer experiences.

Cultural & Organizational Leadership:
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous improvement across engineering, and data teams.
  • Build, mentor and retain high-performing teams, modeling excellence in people leadership and organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with global leaders to ensure alignment, governance and consistency across technology, data and business functions worldwide.

Travel/Physical Demands
  • Travel up to 25% domestic and international
  • Office environment with no special physical demands required

Experience
  • 15–20 years of technical experience in software research and development, with a minimum of 5-7 years in a senior software development leadership role

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Proven success in leading large-scale software initiatives
  • Deep expertise in software design, system engineering, data engineering, cloud platforms, and quality assurance
  • Strong strategic, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire executive, technical and business stakeholders
  • Track record of driving innovation, operational excellence, and measurable business outcomes

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Advanced degree or equivalent professional experience will differentiate you as a candidate
  • Additional coursework or certifications in innovation, design thinking, or emerging technologies is a plus


The posted range for this position is $260,000 - $375,000 which is the expected starting salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a bonus target not reflected in the range.
