Job description

NOTE: Please ensure that you share your portfolio link (containing short-form content you have shot + edited yourself). Candidates without these assets will not be considered.

About Us

Pomelo places the best offshore talent with top brands, startups, and agencies across the globe. We enable hard-working and ambitious talent to work remotely from their home countries, while gaining exposure into how the world’s top companies operate.

About the Role

Our client is an DTC/e-commerce portfolio company that incubates multiple e-commerce brands, and this role is cross-functional across multiple DTC brands (including a health & wellness supplement brand, a luxury home brand, a premium cookware brand, and a beauty brand). We’re looking for a hands-on Director of Social Media to own the organic social media strategy and execution across our client's core channels (e.g., Instagram/Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X/Twitter, LinkedIn). This role combines strategy, content creation (shooting, editing, writing, posting), community building, and seeding to drive awareness, engagement, and brand affinity. You’ll report on performance, identify trends/themes weekly, and keep organic views flowing.

This isn’t a “behind the desk only” role. You’ll be the creator zero: planning calendars, filming and posting content yourself, staying ahead of trends before they break, managing community and collabs, and creating the type of brand presence that drives lasting growth. You’ll also own creator relationships and content partnerships, working closely with the marketing and creative teams to identify, negotiate, and manage collaborations and paid creator campaigns.

Responsibilities

Content Calendar & Strategy
  • Build and maintain monthly posting calendars across IG, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Keep calendars 2+ weeks ahead, aligned with launches, campaigns, and brand narratives.
  • Create & maintain a Pinterest moodboard as a shared inspiration hub for other creators.
Content Creation & Execution
  • Film, edit, and post original content at high velocity (e.g. ~5x/week IG, ~10x/week TikTok).
  • Be comfortable appearing on camera when needed.
  • Handle inbound UGC/affiliate/influencer collab requests, routing them into paid/organic programs.
Creator & Partnership Management
  • Manage creator relationships, content collaborations, and paid partnerships across all brands.
  • Source and vet creators aligned with brand voice and goals.
  • Negotiate deliverables and fees, and oversee campaign execution from outreach through content delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to track performance, usage rights, and future opportunities.
Trend Spotting & Research
  • Follow top TikTok/Instagram strategists and official platform accounts to anticipate changes.
  • Use tools like New Engen reports (trend-spotting) and Gumloop (AI automations) to stay ahead.
  • Quickly adapt trending sounds, memes, and formats into on-brand executions.
Community Engagement
  • Daily engagement: comments, DMs, collabs, social listening.
  • Nurture inbound community and affiliate/creator questions.
  • Build authentic community presence and social proof content.
Analytics & Insights
  • Track growth, engagement, conversions, and share-of-voice.
  • Share weekly/monthly reports with optimization ideas.
  • Sync with Creative Dose (ads) + Boardgame Studio (organic) for cross-channel synergy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least 3 years of social media management — either for a D2C brand or for a personal account grown as a creator.
  • Strong portfolio of short-form content you’ve shot + edited yourself.
  • Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills, social-native first.
  • Strong understanding of TikTok/IG algorithms and growth mechanics.
  • Organized, proactive, highly collaborative.
  • AI-first mindset: fluent with tools like Claude (with MCPs), MidJourney, Runway, Higgsfield, Gumloop.
  • Comfortable being on-camera as needed.
  • Ability to have some overlap with US time zone (some flexibility offered)
Nice-To-Haves
  • Experience covering brand activations/events.
  • Ability to coordinate/manage micro-creators.
  • Understanding of paid and organic synergy in DTC.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay, always in US dollars
  • Work remotely from the comfort of your home
  • Health & wellness benefit
  • Paid holidays and time off
  • Performance and referral bonuses
  • Global exposure to the world’s best companies
