  • Active, unrestricted medical license; ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret (TS) security clearance
  • Strong clinical judgment, interdisciplinary collaboration, excellent documentation, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Requirements:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, establish diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and provide crisis and safety assessments, psychopharmacology, psychoeducation, interventional psychiatry, and psychotherapy as appropriate
  • Collaborate with program leadership, treatment staff, and interdisciplinary teams to support quality and performance initiatives within the Behavioral Health unit; review and co-sign documentation in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and insurance requirements
  • Develop and implement psychopharmacological interventions; provide medical direction and clinical guidance to the treatment team; interface with patients' families as needed for consent and education; identify level-of-care criteria and assist with insurance appeals
  • Represent the treatment program with insurers and regulatory bodies; provide second-opinion evaluations when requested; meet with program leadership to discuss patient progress and ensure adherence to medical standards

VECRA, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mental Health Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment on an as-needed basis. This role supports our clinical leadership team by delivering comprehensive psychiatric care—including psychopharmacology, crisis evaluations, and therapeutic interventions—while collaborating closely with program leadership and interdisciplinary treatment staff.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excels in fast-paced environments, and is capable of providing patient-centered, evidence-based psychiatric services with professionalism and cultural sensitivity. The Psychiatrist will play a critical role in treatment planning, consultation, documentation review, and clinical guidance, ensuring adherence to medical standards and supporting overall Behavioral Health program performance.

Job Description

As part of the clinical leadership team, the Mental Health Psychiatrist is responsible for delivering high-quality psychiatric services, supporting clinical operations, and ensuring that patients receive timely, accurate, and culturally responsive mental health care. This position is as-needed, based on program and client demand.

The Psychiatrist will conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, prescribe and monitor medications, provide crisis assessments, collaborate with treatment teams, and support program leadership with clinical decision-making. This position requires adherence to medical staff standards, documentation requirements, and evidence-based psychiatric practices.

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, crisis and safety evaluations, and psychiatric     treatment interventions including psychopharmacology, psychoeducation, interventional psychiatry, and                 psychotherapy as appropriate   

• Consult with program leadership and treatment staff to support quality and performance initiatives within the         Behavioral Health unit   

• Review and co-sign documentation completed by behavioral health clinicians in accordance with Medical Staff     Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and insurance requirements   

• Develop and implement appropriate psychopharmacological interventions for psychiatric disorders   

• Interface with patients’ families as needed for consent and education   

• Identify and communicate level-of-care criteria and assist with insurance appeals when necessary   

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team on case conceptualization and treatment planning   

• Meet with program leadership as needed to discuss patient progress   

• Represent the treatment program when required, including interactions with insurance and regulatory bodies   

• Provide second-opinion evaluations when requested   

• Assist treatment staff with clinical guidance   

• Provide medical direction to the treatment team on an as-needed basis   

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)   

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (psychology, biology, pre-med, or related) 

Licensure & Additional Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted medical license

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

  • Excellent documentation and organizational abilities

  • Ability to work in fast-paced and evolving environment
