JOB OVERVIEW
Our business specialises in working with trades services businesses like Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC, Fire and Security. Along with bookkeeping services, we also provide job management and administration services.

The AU Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for managing end-to-end bookkeeping and payroll functions for Australian clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality across all deliverables. The role also includes reviewing work completed by Intermediate Bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.

The main accounting software used is Xero; however, the role also involves operating job management software Simpro and Employment Hero Payroll software. Experience with these applications is highly desirable, and training will be provided where required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform end-to-end bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Enter, review, and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Process end-to-end Australian payroll and maintain payroll compliance
• Prepare and review BAS and IAS in accordance with Australian GST legislation
• Review work completed by Intermediate Bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and quality standards
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of client records across systems
• Identify issues, anomalies, or process gaps and address or escalate as required
• Maintain high-quality bookkeeping standards across multiple clients

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field in bookkeeping preferred

Experience and Knowledge
• Minimum 3–4 years of Australian bookkeeping experience
• Has pursued bookkeeping as a career, preferably within an Australian bookkeeping firm handling multiple clients
• Australian payroll experience required
• Strong understanding of Australian GST law, including preparation of BAS and IAS
• Demonstrated process development and improvement skills
• Excellent customer service skills

System and Application Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Must have end-to-end experience using Xero
• Experience with Simpro or Employment Hero Payroll is beneficial (training will be provided)
• Ability and willingness to learn new systems and tools

Quality
• Works within Hammerjack quality guidelines
• Ensures quality of work is delivered with minimal supervision
• High level of written and verbal English skills

Communication Skills
• Works well and communicates effectively within a team
