Roles & Responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Own the full lifecycle of third-party integrations into Mukuru’s API platforms, including onboarding, testing, certification, and go-live; serve as the senior technical escalation point; reduce friction and accelerate time-to-market for new partners
  • Support and guide REST-based API integrations (JSON, authentication, webhooks); improve documentation, tooling, and integration standards; ensure APIs are consumed securely and at scale
  • Monitor API health (availability, latency, error rates); proactively detect risks and bottlenecks; provide actionable feedback to Product/Engineering; ensure performance standards are upheld across partners
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Support teams; influence integration roadmaps and backlog prioritisation; remove blockers that slow down revenue-enabling initiatives; promote security and consistent API standards across internal and external teams

You will own how partners integrate into Mukuru’s API ecosystem — ensuring seamless onboarding, high performance, and reliable integrations that directly enable growth and revenue.

Your Mission

Own and elevate the end-to-end partner integration lifecycle — from first technical conversation to go-live and beyond — ensuring integrations are reliable, secure, and scalable.

You will be the technical bridge between Mukuru and our partners.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Partner Integration Leadership

  • Own the full lifecycle of third-party integrations into Mukuru’s API platforms.

  • Lead partners through onboarding, testing, certification, and go-live.

  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex integration challenges.

  • Reduce friction and accelerate time-to-market for new partners.

API Enablement & Technical Excellence

  • Support and guide REST-based API integrations (JSON, authentication, webhooks).

  • Improve documentation, tooling, and integration standards.

  • Identify recurring integration issues and drive structural improvements.

  • Ensure APIs are consumed efficiently, securely, and at scale.

Operational Performance & Reliability

  • Monitor API health (availability, latency, error rates).

  • Proactively detect risks and integration bottlenecks.

  • Provide actionable feedback to Product & Engineering.

  • Ensure performance standards are upheld across partners.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Support teams.

  • Influence integration roadmaps and backlog prioritisation.

  • Remove blockers that slow down revenue-enabling initiatives.

Quality, Security & Standards

  • Embed security and compliance best practices into integrations.

  • Promote consistent API standards across internal and external teams.

  • Ensure authentication and access controls are implemented correctly.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay ahead of API trends and integration best practices.

  • Champion smarter processes that improve scalability and partner experience.

  • Contribute to strategic platform evolution.

What You Bring

Experience

  • 5+ years in technical integrations, backend/API development, or platform roles.

  • Strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth (or similar authentication).

  • Experience supporting external partners in integration environments.

  • Comfortable troubleshooting cross-system technical issues.

  • Agile delivery experience.

Tools & Technical Comfort

  • API testing tools (Postman, Insomnia).

  • Exposure to monitoring/logging/observability tools is advantageous.

  • Experience working across multiple integration environments.

Ways of Working

  • Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills.

  • Able to translate complex technical topics into clear business language.

  • Confident leading conversations with both engineers and commercial stakeholders.

  • Outcomes-focused with strong commercial awareness.
