Career Opportunities: Materials & Process Engineer, Composite Manufacturing, Terma Aerstructures, Grenaa (839)

Job description

Would you like to play a key role in owning and developing advanced composite manufacturing processes in the aerospace industry? In this role, you will contribute both technically and strategically to ensure a robust, compliant, and efficient production. Come join us!

We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes, as we deliver advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry. Our systems provide security for people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for Materials & Process Engineer to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.

Your role in our team

As our new Materials & Process Engineer, you will be the technology owner of several composite manufacturing processes and materials. In this role, you will encounter a high variation in your daily operations and will take part in setting the direction and objectives for your areas of expertise. You ensure process and material compliance, quality, and optimization while working closely with a broad range of stakeholders.

This role combines hands-on expertise in advanced composite materials with strategic responsibilities in technical leadership and stakeholder management. Your day-to-day tasks will alternate between time on the production floor – overseeing, discussing, or engaging in production processes with our skilled operators – and time at your desk or working remotely, interpreting specification requirements, updating instructions, writing reports, elaborating on test plans and results, studying new technology, and analyzing data. Occasionally you will also work hands-on with testing and investigation at our Technology Centre.

As a Materials & Process Engineer, within composites manufacturing, you will take ownership of a defined area of our composite processes, determined based on business needs and your areas of expertise. Our composite processes span across honeycomb core processing, ply-cutting and layup of composite prepreg material, vacuum debulking, adhesive bonding of honeycomb core and composite skin details, vacuum/pressure-assisted autoclave curing, mechanical assembly and shimming, mechanical materials testing, electrical bonding, and verification. Your key objectives will be to ensure that all processes and materials within your area comply with customer requirements and are optimized in terms of efficiency, cost, and technology.

You will become part of a dedicated team of six engineers and academics, diverse in terms of gender, age, nationality and educational background. While responsibilities are clearly defined, we operate with a strong team mindset and shared accountability. At the same time, we nurture a culture that is respectful of personal life, offering flexible hours and the possibility of working from home to ensure a good work/life balance.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

Your key responsibilities include:

    • Manage requirements and process control
    • Develop and maintain manufacturing process instructions
    • Qualify materials and processes
    • Monitor and evaluate process performance
    • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues
    • Manage PFMEAs and support audits
    • Provide technical guidance and advisory to internal stakeholders
    • Represent Terma in technical discussions with customers, suppliers and external collaborators.

Bring your world class expertise into play

You are fluent in English both in writing and verbal, at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement. Moreover, we are also looking for a new colleague with the following qualifications:

    • You hold a Bachelor´s or Masters´s degree in engineering science or similar technical field
    • Several years of experience in process and/or materials engineering, specifically related to composites and composite manufacturing.
    • Solid understanding of material properties and behavior under varying conditions
    • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across functions and organizational levels.
    • The ability to take technical leadership within your area of expertise, guiding decisions and driving progress with confidence and accountability.

As a person, you are highly solution-oriented and analytical, with a strong appreciation for production compliance. You navigate complex organizational environments with integrity and professionalism. You communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and produce precise, well-structured technical documentation.

We are an international company representing world-class expertise, delivering complex and high-tech products. We value our colleagues and our meaningful contributions to securing people through advanced technology. You will also experience that we have a strong focus on your development, teaching you useful new competences and further strengthening current ones, both professionally and personally. Our company culture is autonomous and engaging, and we acknowledge the importance of flexibility in a great working environment.

When joining Terma, we promise that you will experience: Great people, challenging tasks, world-class expertise, and meaningful contribution in your daily work.
