Job description

Position Overview:

 

Reporting to the File Formatting Team Leader and as an integral part of Questel’s File Formatting Team, this role is responsible to format, recreate, design, and edit documents combining text and graphics through file formatting software following the established processes and guidelines.  This role will also work together with the team and leadership to ensure that documents are delivered following optimal quality standards within the established timeframe. 



Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Proactively report the status and progress of the tasks and current projects
  • Ensure standards of high quality, speed, and knowledge are met
  • Follow good practices to safeguard the information of the company following the guidelines and recommendations
  • Follow and ensure compliance with the established processes and guidelines, contribute to their improvement
  • Prepare documents for translation according to the client's requirements, as well as estimate the formatting time of a project based on its complexity
  • Format, recreate, design, and edit documents combining text and graphics through file formatting software following the processes and guidelines provided by the client/agent
  • Locate digital content, such as user interfaces, help files, websites, manuals, guides, and / or similar content
  • Conduct final quality control and quality assurance of File formatting projects in a qualified language pair
  • Ensuring that deliverables meet client/agent requirements, specific instructions and expectations and are completed on time, within the required quality level
  • Complete heavy workload within established time frame
  • Participate in self-study activities, development programs and staff training
  • Collaborate with the documentation of processes, know-how, feedback as well as work on the necessary corrective actions
  • Communicate effectively with managers, Translation Coordinators (TCs), Project Managers (PMs) or any project stakeholder directing the communication to the appropriate person or team
  • Work together with team and leadership to ensure that document design, layout and graphics convey the meaning of the original content or the correct guidelines 
  • Maximize the use of file formatting tools and report issues to the development team
  • Stay above the performance standards established by the company
  • Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree or experience in languages or translation, preferred.  In addition, any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

 

  • Elementary skills in Adobe/Photoshop and/or file formatting software and digital content design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word
  • Intermediate level of English
  • Good analytical, organizational, and soft skills
  • Quick learner
  • Highly motivated and willing to take initiative and complete assignments
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Excellent ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Requires collaboration with other team members to complete tasks
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Participate in a culture of responsiveness to strengthen relationships and ensure the needs and time of others are met and respected
  • Willing to work occasionally during non-standard hours
