Roles & Responsibilities

  • Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil) or Business degree or diploma with minimum 10 years in managing construction projects and 5 years managing direct reports
  • Experience with utility-scale renewable construction projects, preferably Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, risk management and conflict resolution skills; excellent interpersonal and communication (oral, written, visual)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and work flexible hours (evenings/weekends); valid driver's license with clean driving record

Requirements:

  • Lead and develop the regional project implementation team (Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Construction Managers) and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, changes/variations, and dispute resolution
  • Review and approve project schedules, budgets, scope changes, quality and risks; determine and assign resources across cross-functional departments and advise on EPC/BOP contracts and equipment supply agreements
  • Meet with senior stakeholders (clients, suppliers, internal) to negotiate and resolve conflicts; assist in cost estimation and development of project schedules; monitor progress and issue status reports
  • Coach, mentor and supervise project team; establish KPIs, conduct lessons learned reviews, ensure ethical standards and HSE compliance; travel as required

Position Title:   Senior Project Director 

Department: Project Implementation, CS e-Storage 

Reports To: General Manager of Project Implementation and Services 

 

Position Summary: 

The Senior Project Director will be responsible for overseeing a regional project implementation team that will include Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Construction Managers for BESS projects Providing leadership and decision-making project scope including but not limited to schedules, budgets, changes / variations, and dispute resolution The individual will liaise with internal departments (Commercial, Engineering, Quality, Commissioning, Service, Accounting, Legal and Procurement), the client / owner, equipment suppliers, EPC’s / BOP’s and and various subcontractors Department management, project management, contract review and EPC construction experience is required as well as demonstrated influence, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.   

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and develop regional project implementation team including Project Directors, Project Mangers, Project Coordinators and Construction Managers 

  • Assist in creating Annual Operating Plans (resources, operating expenses) and then adhering to plan throughout calendar year 

  • Review, approve, and provide decision making for project schedules, budgets (expenses), scope changes / variations, quality and risks 

  • Determine and assign resources to cross-functional projects of high complexity working with internal departments including Commercial, Engineering, Quality, Commissioning, Service, Accounting, Legal and Procurement 

  • Review and provide input on contract documentation including head agreements and schedules for EPC and battery supply contracts, EPC / BOP subcontracts and equipment supply agreements 

  • Meet with senior level stakeholders (client, suppliers, internal) to negotiate and resolve conflicts  

  • Assist in estimation of project costs and development of project schedules / timelines 

  • Oversee and determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas 

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and determine key performance indicators to monitor performance 

  • Organize project lesson learned reviews to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements 

  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the CS e-Storage Code of Business Conduct 

  • Adhere to and enforce of all health and safety rules and company policies 

  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned 

 

Requirements:

  • Experience with utility scale renewable construction projects, preferably in Battery Energy Storage Systems 

  • Solid and effective interpersonal and communication skills (including oral, written and visual) 

  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, risk management and consensus building skills 

  • Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems and photovoltaic or Energy Storage system applications is required 

  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality 

  • Expert knowledge of creating business requirements, work plans, project schedules and associated project artifacts 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record 

  • Ability to function successfully both independently and within a team 

  • Demonstrated professional appearance and conduct  

  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends) as required 

  • Travel required to client and supplier facilities and sites under construction up to 50% of time during peak periods
