Job description

Your mission
Make space missions sustainable! Develop the first ever collision avoidance and frequency coordination framework with the most modern technologies and tools the world has to offer for the OKAPI platform.
So far, sustainable spaceflight is performed as externality: Mission plans are derived accounting for payload operations, ground station contacts, loading cycles etc. Interference with third party objects, like space debris, but also other operational satellite are taken as external factor which interrupt the plan of operations and service delivery.
Depending on your profile, we will find the right mission for you that will launch you to your next job at our company!
Your tasks and responsibilities
Depending on your profile, we will discuss possible positions with you. In the best case, you already know what you want to do.
Your profile
Whether you have years of experience, are a recent university graduate, looking for an internship or working student position, we are looking forward to your application. Herby, we do not mind whether your background is in business related fields, programming or space engineering. Also applicants from other fields are welcome to apply. For us it is only important that you know what you can contribute to us and love what you do!
Why us?
  • With a flat hierarchy and small working groups, you define your own way of work, including flexible working hours.
  • After your 4-week onboarding time in Braunschweig, you can choose between staying in our office, working remotely (within the EEA) or a hybrid approach. We would favour you being in the office sometimes.β€―
  • Quickly gain your responsibilities in the company and provide your input to shape the future of OKAPI:Orbits.
  • Access to a dedicated training budget to continuously develop your skills further.
  • Corporate Benefits such as BahnCard 25 or 50, bike leasing and more.
  • Participate in space events and conferences, to spread the word about a sustainable space environment.
  • Perks such as free drinks in the office.
  • Regular after-work activities like laser tag, dinner, chess, bouldering, or a simple beer.
About us
OKAPI:Orbits is at the forefront of space sustainability, addressing some of the most pressing challenges of the space industry: the growing problem of crowded orbital regimes, and the need for more efficient satellite operations. We're providing end-to-end solutions that help various space industry players cover their Space Situation Awareness (SSA), and Space Traffic Management and Coordination (STM & STC) needs. We are committed to safeguarding space missions and access to space for all humanity. Join us on our mission.

Last but not least, we would like to share with you that research shows that women are less likely to apply for a position unless they meet 100% of the listed requirements.
Please know that if it’s your case β€” but you are passionate about space technology, building reliable software, and contributing to a more sustainable space environment β€” we strongly encourage you to apply.
OKAPI:Orbits already brings together a highly diverse team, and we actively continue to strengthen this diversity which allows us to achieve higher performance and drive innovation.
