B.Sc. or Master's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline
Proven experience implementing and enforcing safety policies in the field
Minimum 10 years of experience in the mining industry
Experience with mining-related operations including extraction, reclaiming, haulage, crushing and screening, sampling, drilling and exploration
Requirements:
Deployment of the safety policy and implementation of SMS-based measures to limit workplace risks
Lead toolbox talks and organize safety meetings across all operational areas, ensuring compliance with local regulations and contractor/employee safety
Carry out safety inspections, evaluate conditions, plan and monitor compliance with safety procedures, and follow up corrective actions; conduct safety audits
Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and corrective actions; identify training needs and plan training sessions; support safety communication and culture development
Job description
Our client is a global mining and metallurgy company. Due to business expansion from a joint venture project, we are currently partnering them to look for a Mine Operation Safety Superintendent to design, implement and improve measures to limit risks in the workplace. This role will be based at Halmahera Island in Indonesia.
Responsibilities
Deployment of the safety policy
Implements measures to limit risks in the workplace as per the SMS
Comply with all local regulations operators’ competence, equipment and operations of WBN and contractors’ employees.
Leads toolboxes talks
Organize Safety meeting within each operational area of responsibility
Evaluate the safety conditions
Plans and monitors compliance with safety procedures in the field
Carries out safety inspection and follows up the resulting actions
Identifies & support corrective and preventive actions following field visits
Ensure HPIs are all recognized & reported
Perform Safety Interactions
Plans and arranges for compliance audits (such as Essential Requirements)
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and corrective actions within the time frame
Identify training needs and plan training sessions for operations participants (employees & contractors)
Team management, coordination
Manages, organizes and mobilizes teams in the deployment of safety objectives
Is responsible for safety communication (top-down / bottom-up)
Develops the safety culture at all levels of its scope
Identifies and follow-up training needs for subordinates

Various mining related operations: extraction, reclaiming, articulated dump truck and road truck haulage, crushing and screening, sampling, drilling and exploration works
Multicultural environment, with communication in various languages (Mandarin, English, Bahasa.)
Able to work in a remote working location
