  • Lead and execute RFPs and other competitive bidding events, conduct supplier due diligence, evaluate bids, and present findings to the Business Owner; monitor procurement performance and report to senior management

Job description

 

Job Location: Hershey, PA (Hybrid) Preferred, Open to Remote 
Job Level: 1A/1B 

We are hiring for multiple roles! This posting is for a future opportunity at The Hershey Company within our Procurement team. 


Role Summary: 

Responsible for category management, supplier relationship management, value delivery, sustainability & resiliency of assigned categories of $10-100M+ in spend for Sr Specialist role and $1M - $10M for Specialist role.

 

Role Responsibilities: 

  1. Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans to ensure the procurement of high-quality goods and services at competitive prices.  Specialist will assist.      
  2. Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with company standards.
  3. Financial Management: Working with business owners identify opportunities for cost savings, working capital and efficiency improvements.
  4. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate price and/or continuity risks to ensure a resilient supply chain.
  5. Performance Reporting: Prepare and present procurement performance reports as applicable per category managed to senior management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
  6. Lead and execute Request for Proposal (RFP) and other competitive bidding events including conducting due diligence on suppliers, contacting suppliers to communicate requirements, evaluating bids received and summarizing findings with the Business Owner.

NOTE:  Specialist will be responsible for low to medium complexity.  Sr Specialist will be responsible for medium to high complexity.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, ensuring the best value for the company while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in analyzing market trends and supplier performance data to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Strategic Thinking: Capability to develop and implement long-term procurement strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Risk Management: Expertise in identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate, ensuring a stable supply of materials or services

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience (work):

1A, Sr Specialist role: A minimum of 3 years of progressive procurement experience

1B, Specialist role: 1-3 years of experience in procurement.     

  • Experience (industry): Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry is highly preferred.
