About the position

We are currently exploring potential candidates for a software engineering role. If you have relevant experience, we encourage you to connect with us and share your qualifications.

Our products are used by shipping company engineers and captains to optimise the technical operations and navigation of their vessels based on our in-house developed AI and optimisation algorithms. You will need to gain a good understanding of the domain and our research output to design improvements that make our back-end infrastructure scalable and cover our customers needs.

Our cloud platform is hosted on AWS, and we are in the process of transitioning our infrastructure to container orchestration using EKS. Our back-end services are implemented in Java, using the Spring boot framework, with front-end in React, AI services in Python using TensorFlow, and optimisation using Rust.

Job requirements

Necessary:

• Proven hands-on Software Development experience in Java ( version 8+ )
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot ecosystem (Spring Core, Spring Boot, Spring Data etc)
• SQL
• Experience with both external and embedded databases (relational), as well as with cache engines (EHCache, Redis)
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Familiarity with Maven
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
• Familiar with various design and architectural patterns, especially concurrent ones
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Skill for writing reusable Java libraries
• Knack for writing clean, readable Java code
• Knack for documenting analysis and source code
• Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, ORM and RESTful
• Basic understanding of JVM, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds
• Implementing unit tests
• Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication (also in English).

Desired, but not mandatory:

• Software Development experience in Python ( version 3.8+ )
