Love Justice South Africa / Transit Monitoring Overview: We are on a mission to share the love of Christ by fighting the worlds greatest injustices. It is estimated that there are more than 40 million slaves in the world todaymore than any time in history. Most trafficking victims are subjected to the worst conditions and several of the most horrific crimes, including deception, kidnapping, rape, torture, and enslavement. Traffickers often target the young, uneducated, naive, and innocent. Selling a story of hope to those most desperate for it, they use deception to gain control and then maintain control through acts of violence. The scale of the problem, the gravity of the crimes involved, and the vulnerability of its victims combine to make human trafficking and the slavery it engenders perhaps the greatest injustice in the world today.


Transit Monitoring attacks trafficking at the most strategic momentwhile it is in the process of occurring, but before victims have been exploited or enslaved. It seeks people who are being actively trafficked or at high risk of being trafficked and prevents it. It is tangible, measurable, and has a very high impact on the dollar.


A Transit Monitor stands in public areas like train or bus stations and border crossings, and watch for signs of trafficking. When they see these signs, they will show an identity card and question the suspected victim and trafficker. If they conclude that the potential victim really is being trafficked, they will "intercept" her/him and prevent her from going on.


The role of the Data Entry Specialist is to enter data from original forms into the Searchlight databases quickly and accurately and ensure staff in the field are filling out data collection forms correctly and in compliance with Love Justices requirements.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Enter data from original forms into the Searchlight databases quickly and accurately (IRFs, VDFs,

CIFs, SMRs, Open Source Data)

Ensure Transit Monitors are filling out forms correctly and monitoring data collection compliance

Verify that data entered into the system is accurate and complete

A mature Christian
A broken heart for injustice in the world today-particularly human trafficking
Language proficiency in English
Accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent typing and transcription skills
Significant computer and technical skills (including Gmail, Google Sheets, and Google Docs knowledge)

Work Environment and Requirements: This position will be based in Johannesburg mostly working from home/office in Parkhurst and attending weekly meetings with the monitoring team. You will be expected to work full-time (40 hours per week).


Communication / Reporting Expectations:

You are expected to closely coordinate with the Love Justice South Africa National Director especially as it related to station compliance.

A plan to improve data entry performance indicators must be submitted in the NMR each month if goals are not met.

Please note: This position is offered for an initial contract period of 3 months only. During this period the candidates performance will be evaluated and the position may be renewed should the candidate be found suitable for the position and if there is continued funding for the project. The candidate must be legally documented to work in South Africa and must not have a criminal record or any conflict of interests (including but not exclusive of other business interests). Only candidates who live in Johannesburg will be considered.
