Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development and administration; proven experience leading complex ServiceNow projects.
  • Deep expertise in ITSM and ITAM; strong ServiceNow architecture, data model, and security model; experience with REST/SOAP integrations and CMDB health/remediation.
  • ServiceNow certifications (Certified Application Developer and Certified System Administrator); additional ITOM/ITSM/ITAM certifications are a plus.

Requirements:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers; conduct code reviews and ensure code quality.
  • Lead design and development of ServiceNow solutions (custom apps, workflows, integrations) following best practices and architectural principles.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical designs, configure ITSM/ITOM/ITAM modules, and integrate with external systems using REST/SOAP.
  • Oversee quality assurance, testing (unit, system, UAT), incident/problem management, and monitor delivery milestones; drive continuous improvement.

Project Overview: The Service Management Transformation Programs is focused on transforming IT service operations to ensure a superior customer experience and to contribute to the success of government programs.

Architects at Experience Level 3 are usually technology specialists that can demonstrate in their submitted examples that they have successfully led multi-discipline analysis and design teams in support of complex projects, and that they reported to the senior project manager and had individuals performing functions at a senior technical level reporting directly to them.
Architects at Experience Level 3 have expert knowledge of an underlying technology function, its integral components and understand the strengths and weaknesses of a technology.
An Architect at Experience Level 3 is responsible for determining the suitability of a technology and for defining the best possible architecture.
An Architect at Experience Level 3 is expected to have detailed knowledge of industry trends and vendor competencies within the subject area. Typical deliverables model the technical architecture and may include application models and data models.

The Province is implementing various modules of ServiceNow, with several already in production which include:
• Incident Management
• Problem Management
• Change Management
• Knowledge Management
• Order Management (Service Request, Request for Fulfillment, Service Catalogue)
• Service Asset and Configuration Management and Configuration Management Database (SACM/CMDB)
• Hardware Asset Management (HAM)
• Software Asset Management (SAM)
• Field Services (FSM)
• Continuous Improvement (CIM)
• Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)

The Province is seeking an experienced ServiceNow Functional Architect who will support the architectural needs of the program.

The ServiceNow Lead Developer/Architect is required to have the following skills and experience:

Education:
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:
o Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow development and administration.
o Proven experience in developing and configuring complex ServiceNow projects.
o Previous experience in leading and managing complex ServiceNow solution development.
o In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow modules, especially IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM).
o Experience working with end users to derive requirements, understand their issues, and provide effective resolutions.

Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, and other web development technologies.
o Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, data model, and security model.
o Experience with ServiceNow integrations using REST, SOAP, and other integration technologies.
o Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, IRE, and the CMDB health and remediation rules
o Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.
Client Interaction:
o Strong competence in working directly with end users to understand their requirements, issues, and objectives.
o Proven ability to analyze end user problems and work through resolutions effectively.
o Excellent communication skills to interact with end users and stakeholders at all levels.

Leadership Skills:
o Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of developers.
o Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Soft Skills:

Certifications:
o ServiceNow Certified Application Developer.
o ServiceNow Certified System Administrator.
o Additional ServiceNow certifications (e.g., ITOM, ITSM, ITAM) are a plus.

The ServiceNow Lead Developer/Architect will be responsible for:
Technical Leadership:
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of developers.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Stay current with ServiceNow features, capabilities, and updates to guide the team effectively.
Design and Development:
• Lead the design and development of ServiceNow solutions, including custom applications, workflows, and integrations.
• Ensure that solutions adhere to ServiceNow best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.
• Design and develop ServiceNow modules, applications, and components based on business needs.
Requirement Analysis:
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and design documents.
• Ensure that solutions align with business objectives and user needs.
Configuration and Customization:
• Configure and customize ServiceNow applications and modules, including ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, and others.
• Develop custom scripts, business rules, UI policies, and client scripts to meet specific business requirements.
• Integrate ServiceNow with external systems using REST, SOAP, and other integration methods.
Quality Assurance:
• Develop and execute test plans to ensure the quality and functionality of ServiceNow solutions.
• Perform unit testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to identify and resolve issues.
• Ensure that all solutions are thoroughly documented and meet compliance requirements.
Incident and Problem Management:
• Provide third-level support for incidents and problems related to ServiceNow applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Implement preventive measures to reduce the occurrence of incidents and improve system stability.
Project Management:
• Collaborate with managers to manage the queue of incidents and enhancements.
• Track progress against delivery milestones and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with the solutions.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation using ServiceNow capabilities.
• Recommend and implement enhancements to improve system performance and user experience.
• Participate in continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of ServiceNow Advancements

Technical skills including, but not limited to:
