Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a physical or life science (e.g., chemistry, biochemistry, biology, biotechnology) or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of relevant Sales/Business Development experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office; experience with Salesforce CRM (desirable).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; ability to work independently and travel up to 50%.

  • Identify and properly qualify new business opportunities in North America.
  • Travel and subsequently meet with new and existing customers and attend relevant trade shows.
  • Partner with current and new customers to ascertain current technical needs and collaborate with company scientists to develop new product solutions.
  • Work closely with Product Management and Marketing to recognize and promote sales opportunities.

Job Title: Representative, Technical Sales 

Reports To: VP & GM, Analytical Reference Materials (ARM)

Location: United States - Remote

FLSA Status: Exempt 

 

Position Summary: 

The successful candidate will be effective in establishing and maintaining relationships in order to increase sales to targeted clients within the Analytical Reference Materials (ARM) industry. The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for technical sales calls and the promotion of the Company’s products to key customers. Effective communication with other members of the Sales Team, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Service, and Operations - pertaining to product and client-related issues - will be critical for success. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and properly qualify new business opportunities in North America.
  • Travel and subsequently meet with new and existing customers - and attend relevant trade shows.
  • Provide customer and sales support by responding to customer inquiries and requests.
  • Partner with current and new customers to ascertain current technical needs and work with company scientists to develop new product solutions.
  • Work closely with Product Management and Marketing to recognize and promote sales opportunities.
  • Ensure that databases (e.g., Salesforce) are current and updated as needed with accurate customer information.
  • Routinely pull and reference Business Intelligence (BI) reports for additional sales opportunities.
  • Execute timely preparation of all expense reports, call reports, and assigned projects.
  • Keep management and sales team members informed of all relevant activity. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited higher learning institution, in a physical or a life science (e.g., chemistry, biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, etc.) - or equivalent experience.

 

Experience: 

  • Requires 2-4 years of relevant Sales/Business Development experience. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in Excel and MS office applications is required, and strong database experience (e.g., with Salesforce) is desirable. 
  • Interpersonal skills to build relationships with, and to conduct professional and courteous virtual meetings with internal and external customers. 
  • Must be results oriented and self-motivated. The successful candidate will strive to achieve targets and goals; and is assertive and proactive.β€― 
  • Advanced knowledge of chemistry techniques including AA, GC, ICP, LC, LC-MS, Raman Spectroscopy etc. 
  • Experienced with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database management, preferably Salesforce. 
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills; ability to understand product portfolios in order to participate in promotions and probe effectively; ability to analyze data and compile reports as needed.β€― Must be able to assimilate data and draw relevant conclusions. 
  • Must possess a customer-focused mentality to meet and ideally exceed our customers’ expectations. 
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects concurrently to successful completion, meet deadlines, and follow-up in a timely manner through excellent organizational, planning, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and be able to operate in a team atmosphere. 
  • Strong selling and negotiation skills. The ability to independently negotiate and manage relationships with various customers - as well as execute key sales strategies.β€― 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, works efficiently under pressure, meets deadlines and other essential time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $70-$80k, depending on location, experience, and qualifications. Plus commission.
