We are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to drive growth across Europe for a world-class preclinical Contract Research Organization (CRO). With an established reputation for excellence and innovation, our client partners with top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to accelerate drug discovery and development.

 

About the Role

As the Director of Business Development, Europe, you will play a crucial role in expanding our client’s presence across the region. Your primary focus will be developing strategic relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and positioning the company as a preferred partner in the CRO industry. This remote position is open to candidates based in Switzerland or Germany.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Business Growth – Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives to expand the company’s European footprint.
  • Build & Strengthen Partnerships – Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring long-term collaboration and customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve Revenue Targets – Proactively manage the sales pipeline, closing deals to meet and exceed sales objectives.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams – Work closely with technical experts, senior leadership, and global BD teams to deliver customized solutions for clients.
  • Market Intelligence & Strategy – Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform business development strategies.
  • Industry Engagement – Represent the company at key conferences, networking events, and industry meetings to enhance brand visibility and foster business relationships.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making – Utilize CRM and data analytics tools to track progress, generate insights, and refine business development efforts.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific discipline (PhD preferred but not required).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the life sciences industry, with CRO experience being highly desirable.
  • A proven track record of securing new business and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities.
  • Self-motivation, adaptability, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
