Job description

Set-up and Location: Work-from-home

Work Schedule: 9:00AM to 6:00PM (NZ Time) | 5:00AM to 2:00PM (PH)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our Earthworks & Foundations team. The

Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate quantity take-offs, pricing, and cost estimates for excavation,

foundation (including superstructure), retaining wall, driveway, and external concrete works projects. This role

requires close collaboration with the Quantity Surveying (QS) team to ensure precise cost planning, competitive

tender submissions, and consistent project delivery.

What You'll Do:
You'll be the kind of person who:

Review civil, structural, and geotechnical drawings and reports.
Perform accurate quantity take-offs for excavation, backfill, retaining walls, piling, and foundations.
Develop cost estimates covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors, and disposal.
Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotes for competitiveness and compliance.
Work closely with the QS team to prepare tender submissions.
Provide cost breakdowns, clarifications, and supporting documents.
Support live projects with re-measures, variation pricing, and forecasting.
Provide timely take-off and pricing data to support QS in variation claims and client negotiations.
Estimate bulk earthworks and disposal logistics, including truck scheduling and tipping fees.

Requirements

What You Bring:

We're looking for someone who:

Strong ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings.
Proficiency in quantity take-off software and Excel.
Knowledge of earthworks, piling, foundations, concrete superstructure, and retaining wall methods.
Knowledge of external works, including driveways, drainage connections, and landscaping-related concrete
works.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to perform under pressure and meet tender deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent tenders with strong prioritisation skills.
Proficiency in Excel and internal estimating templates

Desirable Skills:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
3–5 years of experience as an Estimator or QS in civil/earthworks/foundation projects.
Proven track record in earthworks estimating on medium to large-scale projects
