Job description

Our client is currently recruiting an experienced Legal Secretary to join their high-performing legal support team. This role is ideal for someone based in Cape Town with a background in personal injury law. 

Requirements

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Audio & Digital Typing: Transcribe and action dictations efficiently using legal templates and internal case systems.

  • Document Production: Draft legal letters, compile pleadings, and prepare court bundles for personal injury and RAF-related claims.

  • Client Interaction: Communicate clearly and empathetically with claimants, barristers, and other third parties via email and telephone.

  • Case Administration: Schedule appointments, organise meetings and conference calls, and manage timelines and case milestones.

  • System Management: Log activity and maintain up-to-date records in the Proclaim case management system.

  • Team Collaboration: Work within a centralised team of secretaries supporting each other to meet deadlines and ensure high-quality output


Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Based in Cape Town, with a stable remote working setup

  • Proven experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally in personal injury or RAF-type claims

  • Strong grasp of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling

  • Excellent audio typing skills (minimum 65 wpm)

  • Friendly and professional telephone manner with strong interpersonal skills

  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office and general digital tools

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
