Internal Lawyer

Job Description

We're looking for a well-rounded, in-house Legal Counsel to advance our business further. You will ensure that Gear Inc operates within the law at all times, offer your counsel on legal issues, and serve as an effective guardian of the company. In this role, you will need to build and develop legal strategies and objectives for the organization, and be responsible for Gear Inc's legal compliance.

Main responsibilities

• Manage overall the legal matters of the company and subsidiaries;

• Develop, perform, ensure and maintain legal works including but not limited to prepare, review and manage a wide variety of complex agreements and legal documents to minimize risks and maximize the legal rights of Gear Inc;

• Update relevant laws/regulations and ensure the company's compliance to policy and laws of the country;

• Provide legal advice and services in support of business activities and development of organizational policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and legal implications of all matters;

• Effectively deal with both internal and external stakeholders (project, procurement, enterprise and marketing teams, regulators, vendors and customers) on all legal-related matters;

• Proactively identify solutions that will eliminate or mitigate legal risks and exposure of Gear Inc;

• Liaise with external professionals when necessary.

Job Requirement

• At least a Bachelors Degree in Law (with MA or JD degree a plus);

• English proficiency (both written and spoken);

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in private practice and/or in-house roles in corporate and commercial (technology and services) work in Singapore and the Global region;

• Proven general counseling experience, preferably to a global tech startup or SaaS organization;

• Possesses broad legal knowledge and experience (particularly in the areas of international business law, data privacy law, labor law, global tax law, etc.);

• Possesses the ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to see around the corner;

• Possesses a high degree of professional ethics, integrity and understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality;

• Excellent judgment and analytical skills;

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

• International working experience.
