WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Vice President of Corporate Development will lead MGT’s strategic growth initiatives, with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions across the State, Local, and Education (SLED) sector. This executive role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing high-impact transactions that expand MGT’s capabilities, geographic reach, and client impact. The VP will manage the full deal lifecycle—from sourcing and diligence to negotiation and integration—while collaborating with senior leadership, finance, legal, and operational teams. Success in this role requires deep expertise in corporate development, strong financial acumen, and a strategic mindset to drive long-term value creation in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Execute the firm’s corporate development strategy with a focus on accelerating growth through acquisitions, and strategic initiatives across the SLED sector.
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute M&A opportunities that expand service capabilities, geographic reach, and client impact within state, local, and education markets.
  • Drive the full lifecycle of transactions - from sourcing and diligence to negotiation and integration - assuring alignment with the firm’s long-term strategic objectives.
  • Manage both proactive and inbound deal pipelines—mapping sourcing efforts to the strategic roadmap and tracking funnel performance through defined metrics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with investment banks, venture investors, and industry partners to support deal flow.
  • Lead advanced modeling efforts across valuation, synergies, ROI, and pro forma analysis to inform investment decisions.
  • Conduct rigorous market analyses to inform investment theses and support executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, private equity sponsor, legal, finance, and operational teams to structure deals that optimize value creation and mitigate risk.
  • Lead cross-functional diligence teams and assist with synergy assessment and integration planning.
  • Mentor junior deal team by fostering a culture of strategic thinking, analytical excellence, and executional discipline.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of progressive experience in corporate development, investment banking, or private equity, with a strong track record of leading complex transactions in the professional services or public sector markets.
  • Deep understanding of the SLED landscape, including procurement cycles, funding mechanisms, and regulatory considerations.
  • Exceptional financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work across cross-functional teams and manage multiple high-impact initiatives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels.
