Roles & Responsibilities

  • BCom (Hons) or CTA with Accounting major.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in financial roles, preferably with mid-sized companies.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and project management skills.
  • Leadership experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.

Requirements:

  • Manage the accounting function and lead the Finance Department team.
  • Ensure IFRS compliance and oversee monthly reporting, financial statements, and audits.
  • Handle key financial processes, including budgets, VAT, income tax, and insurance matters.
  • Prepare reports for management, board meetings, and funders, and manage financial projects.

Job Description

As the Senior Financial Manager, you will work closely with the executive team, gain broad exposure to the business and be accountable for the accounting function for the Spartan Group and some key financial processes in servicing customers. The individual will report directly to the Commercial Director and will work closely with other members of the senior management team.

The candidate will be expected to, but not limited to:

  • Be eligible to register as a Key Individual in respect of the FSCA
  •  Manage the accounting function

oDirect and lead the Finance Department team

oEnsure IFRS compliance

oResponsible for monthly reporting, Annual Financial Statements of several companies and the audit engagement

oExperience with, or possess a sound conceptual understanding of, the principles inherent in a financing business

oVAT & income tax returns & SARS queries

oInsurance matters

oBudgets

·Key Process management

oEnsure effectiveness

oMaintain efficiencies

oSign off process compliance activities

·Manage projects:

oSculp, Plan, Execute, and Debrief

oCoordination

oManage project resources

·Prepare reports

oTimeous delivery

oAlert Management to exceptions

oCash flow management & forecasts

oCompile reports and present to Exco

oPrepare reports for Board meetings and funders

  • ad hoc tasks

Desired Skills and Experience

·Minimum of 15 years’ experience (preferably with exposure to mid-sized companies including               reporting to external stakeholders)

  • Leadership experience in a financial role
  • Working knowledge of IFRS
  • Project management
  • General Microsoft office tools

oExcel – Advanced

  • Exposure to ERP systems & Xero/Sage/Quickbooks
  • Flexibility to adapt with business changes
  • Analytical mind, organized, precise and meticulous
  • Problem solver
  • Ability to take initiative, learn quickly and strive for results
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong team player and motivator
