Job description

Job Overview:

The Associate is involved in performing systematic literature reviews; conducting qualitative interviews with patients, physicians, and key opinion leaders; performing qualitative and quantitative analyses; and co-managing projects. The Associate assists other consultants in performing client engagements, conducting primary and secondary data collection, analyzing data, and preparing strategies to meet clients’ needs. This individual may be involved in project management and may collaborate with staff in other divisions.

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    • Understand Client Requirements - Participates in discussions regarding the assignment to define how the work will be done and the deliverables that will be presented by the Firm.
    • Prepare Proposals - May prepare drafts of proposals, incorporating specific client requirements into standard formats used for previous engagements.
    • Research and Supervise the Collection of Data - Identifies sources and obtains information from knowledgeable individuals, reference texts, on-line databases, and other primary and secondary research sources.
    • Perform Analysis - May perform quantitative analysis, SAS programming, or data management tasks consistent with experience and training.
    • Prepare Summaries - Evaluates the information and data collected from sources and prepares summaries to illustrate key points, patterns, and trends.
    • Develop Findings and Recommendations - Assists in using information and data to prepare specific findings and recommendations that are appropriate to client requirements. Evaluates data using appropriate quantitative methods as necessary to allow inferences and conclusions to be drawn.
    • Review Findings and Recommendations with Client - May meet with client to describe sources of data, explain patterns observed in data, and indicate how findings and recommendations were developed.
    • Prepare Deliverables - Prepares high quality drafts of written memos, correspondence, and reports including graphs, tables, illustrations, and text.
    • File Documents - Organizes materials prepared during engagement and ensures that work papers are properly filed and stored for future access
    • Evaluate Engagement - Participates in the internal evaluation of engagements including review of original work plan, budget, individual assignments, client response, and potential for future work
    • Conduct Policy Analysis - Conducts analysis of policy issues
    • Support Internal Practices - Supports functions of other firm practices by providing analysis of issues raised by internal project teams.
    • All other duties as needed or assigned.

    Qualifications (Minimum Required):

    • The Associate typically holds a graduate degree in business administration, public health management, public policy, clinical science, or other relevant discipline from an outstanding program at a distinguished university.
    • May require working knowledge of quantitative methods, SAS programming, or data management.
    • Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.

    Experience (Minimum Required):

    • The Associate will have two or more years of prior work experience in a consulting or research practice, a health care provider, a health products manufacturer, or an insurance company before taking this role as a consultant.
    • The Associate must meet the performance criteria outlined by the Firm.
    • Strong written and oral communication as well as organization skills.
    • Works effectively in a team environment.
    • Collaborates and works with peers to accomplish practice goals.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workload and meet project deadlines.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment a must.

    Preferred Qualifications Include:

    • Demonstrated proficiency in various software programs, including Excel MS Word and PowerPoint preferred.

    Physical Demands/Work Environment:

    • Normal office conditions.
    • The Associate is expected to travel on occasion to meet with clients and must be able to work on evenings and weekends as necessary to meet project schedules.
