Tate & Lyle Global Shared Services Centre in Łódź is the principal location for handling the business support activities and processes for Tate & Lyle, both transactional as well as value-added business partnering support. Starting operations in 2011 with less than 50 people, we now have over 350 employees supporting operations globally. We have 30 teams operating in Łódź to provide service in the areas of Finance, Customer Service, Procurement, HR/People Services, and IS/IT.
About this role:
The Data Governance Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Data Governance Manager and Data Stewards. This position is responsible for integrating the data standards into the data governance tools, and for delivery of the solutions to monitor and report on data quality, assessing how well data meets the defined standards and identifying areas for improvement. The Data Governance Specialist will work closely with all Data Stewards to ensure that the data governance framework and policies are applied in the delivery of the data standards. They will deputise for the Data Governance Manager, when required, to support the Data Owners and facilitate data governance forums. This role is a seasoned position within the team providing strong knowledge in this discipline to advance company capabilities and deliver high-impact solutions. This role brings specialist knowledge to complex IT challenges and guides teams on best practices and innovations within the specialism.
Accountabilities:
Supporting the data stewards in the delivery of the data standards, ensuring adherence to the global data frameworks, data policies and procedures. Ensuring the standards are defined to a high quality, prioritised according to value for the organisation and aligned with business strategy.
Designing, implementing, and maintaining master data governance and data quality tools, ensuring their integration with the broader application landscape.
Balancing accessibility and security, to ensure the data standards are published and visible but access to the underlying data is only permitted to authorised users, who are determined by the Data Owners.
Educating stakeholders on the importance of data governance and promoting a culture of data literacy.
Providing advanced analytics, translating complex data sets into actionable insights and visualisations that aid in strategic planning.
Providing training and support to all levels of staff within the organisation on the data governance frameworks, policies, procedures, standards and tools.
Supporting data governance initiatives, including data cataloguing, data profiling, data quality assessment and data cleansing.
Staying updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to data governance.
Supporting the Data Governance Manager in the advancement and development of data governance within the organisation
Supporting the Data Governance Manager in the definition and maintenance of the data dictionary and data management process templates that the Data Owners and Data Stewards will be responsible for completing.
Collaborating on cross-functional IT initiatives, guiding technical decisions and ensuring alignment with company objectives, functional priorities and best practices.
Documenting and maintaining comprehensive records of IT projects, solutions and best practices within the discipline for future reference and team training.
Acting as a mentor for junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing and technical development within the team to promote technical excellence and innovation.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data governance, preferably within the food and beverage industry sector.
Proficiency in master data governance tools (e.g., Purview, SAP MDG, Informatica MDM), data cataloguing tools, and data quality tools (e.g. Information Steward).
Strong understanding of data governance principles, data management, and data-related regulatory requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. The role holder needs to be able to adapt styles, interpret and explain information and data governance concepts to all levels of stakeholders; who many not necessarily be familiar with the subject.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify data related issues and determine resolution.
Skills in planning, defining and implementing process and data design projects, from inception to completion.
SAP knowledge and familiarity with data visualisation tools, e.g. PowerBI, is preferred.
Ability to resolve issues that are complex or unusual requiring original thought, research, new approaches and analytical techniques.
Able to provide advice and guidance through technical knowledge, research and analysis within own discipline, which impacts the performance of the team.
Takes responsibility for achieving personal targets, which can impact the overall success of the team and shape the development of the discipline.
