Job description

KONE Technology and Innovation Unit (KTI) is where the magic happens at KONE. It's where we combine the physical world – escalators and elevators – with smart and connected digital systems. We are changing and improving the way billions of people move within buildings every day. We are on a mission to expand and develop new digital solutions that are based on emerging technologies.

KONE R&D brings together top talent from different disciplines into an industry-leading product and technology organization. We thrive in solving complex customer challenges, connecting legacy with the latest technologies across systems, hardware and software engineering. In fact, roughly half of our R&D roles are in software. Agile ways of working mean that we are better able to meet our customers’ rapidly evolving needs for speed and innovation, in a global environment.

The Electromechanical Embedded Software Team operates within KONE Machinery and Drive Organization in KONE R&D.

We are now looking for a

Senior Test Automation Specialist / Test Expert - SW Integration, Electromechanical Embedded SW team

What is our challenge for you?

In this role, you will be responsible for automated testing activities related to the software integration testing of our inverters. Together with the other members of the test automation team, you will contribute to defining testing strategies, plans and ensure their execution with the required attention to detail. Your efforts will help us deliver cutting-edge embedded solutions that meet rigorous performance and reliability standards.

  • Collaboration with developers and requirements engineers to continuously challenge and improve established processes is also expected

  • The ability to work within a multicultural team of experts, to present and —when needed— lead the team with new ideas, while also being open to listening and understanding feedback, is a highly valued skill

  • Our Test Engineers develop automation assets predominantly using Robot Framework and Python

To be successful in this role we expect you to have

  • 5-7+ years of experience in test automation development for embedded systems, preferably in the elevator domain

  • Excellent skills in Robot Framework and Python

  • Experience in Jenkins and GitLab for building and supporting CI/CD pipelines

  • Knowledge of version control systems like GIT, Github and Helix

  • Experience in working in lab environment, maintaining test environments, and test assets

  • Familiarity with API and database testing

  • Experience in manual testing, integration testing, and system testing

  • Ability to work in a Linux development environment

  • Skills in shell scripting, Docker, and Kubernetes

  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Jama Test Management

  • A passion for simplifying complex systems without compromising functionality

Welcome additions

  • Skills in using measuring equipment, such as oscilloscopes and digital signal analyzers

  • Familiarity with electronics, power electronics, and circuit diagrams

What can we offer you?

  • You will be working with our experts in an agile software development framework, helping us validate the software at the heart our next generation inverter products. Our devices are helping to bring safe, reliable and smooth motion to KONE’s elevators

  • We offer flexible working time; remote working opportunities and we also support commuting to work. In this role, you work from our Hyvinkää office where we have our state of the art Laboratories, as a primary location. We have a hybrid working model where you can work remotely a few days a week
