Job description

Job Title: Data Engineer I

Reports to: Sr Manager, BI Architect

Job Summary:

The Data Engineer plays a key role in designing and implementing modern data workflows that power insights and connect critical systems. In this role, you'll support a broad range of batch and streaming data workloads in a cloud environment. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, analysts, and platform teams to ensure data consistency, reliability, and performance. In this role, you'll contribute to building and evolving a modern data platform that supports strategic decision-making at scale and integrates systems across the business. Although this is an early-career position, successful candidates will bring a strong technical foundation, curiosity, and the ability to quickly ramp up on new technologies.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Assist in designing and implementing data pipelines that support both batch and real-time streaming use cases
  • Support the development of event-driven data workflows using tools such as Amazon Kinesis and Apache Kafka
  • Help support an enterprise data warehouse environment to enable scalable reporting and analytics
  • Collaborate with partners to understand data requirements and deliver well-modeled, performant data assets
  • Build and maintain ELT/ETL workflows using cloud-native services and automation tools
  • Help develop reusable patterns and code components to support faster product delivery
  • Participate in profiling and analyzing structured and semi-structured data to support data transformation
  • Contribute to documentation of data pipelines and data models
  • Assist in evaluating and integrating new tools or services to improve scalability, cost-efficiency, and performance
  • Follow best practices for code versioning, deployment, and monitoring of data pipelines
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with senior engineers to ensure sound design and maintainability

 

Job Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences) or commensurate experience
  • Basic understanding of core data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT processes and data modeling
  • 1-2 years of SQL experience
  • 1-2 years of development experience with a focus on data workloads (Python or similar)
  • Basic understanding of APIs and proficiency interacting with API’s
  • Experience with git or other version control systems
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

 

The following skills are not required for this position, but would make you extra cool

  • Familiarity with common Python data processing libraries
  • Experience working with MLS data
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Experience with Snowflake, Airflow, Kinesis/Kafka, Tableau
  • Experience with Docker and containerized development
  • Familiarity with languages such as Go, Java, or Scala

None

 

Physical Requirements: 

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. 

 

Travel Requirements: 

If the successful candidate is not located in the Denver area, occasional travel to Denver may be required

 

Hire Range/Rate:

$96,900 - $112,000 base + annual bonus target

Actual compensation offered to candidate will be finalized at offer and may be above or below the posted range due to skill level, experience, industry specific knowledge, education/certifications, or geographic location.  The offer rate represents one component of the RE/MAX Holdings total compensation package.  Employees will also receive a number of benefits as listed below. Other compensation for this position may include bonus eligibility.
