The Opportunity

“As the Media Relations Manager for FICO, you’ll serve as the primary media contact for one of the most trusted financial tools in the United States - the FICO Score. This role is perfect for a strategic communicator who excels at breaking down complex topics and shaping compelling media stories. You’ll manage daily media relations, help develop press strategies, and ensure accurate, timely communication on everything from product innovations to consumer education.  We’re looking for someone who is a master relationship builder with strong media instincts and the ability to shape messaging that speaks to both media professionals and the public.” - Corporate Communications - Director

 

What You'll Contribute

  • Support the development and execution of media outreach strategies to increase public awareness and understanding of FICO Scores.

  • Draft press releases, media pitches, Q&As, talking points, and briefing documents with guidance from senior team members. 

  • Build and maintain media lists, tracking journalist engagement, and identifying new outreach opportunities. 

  • Help coordinate interviews and media requests, ensuring spokespeople are well-prepared. 

  • Monitor relevant news coverage and industry trends to identify timely media opportunities and flag potential issues. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, analytics, legal, and marketing, to gather information and help shape accurate media messaging. 

  • Track and compile earned media coverage, helping analyze performance and share reporting insights with internal stakeholders. 

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to enhance media engagement and storytelling efforts. 

 

What We’re Seeking

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. 

  • 5+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications—preferably in financial services, fintech, or a highly regulated industry. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and tailor messaging for different media audiences. 

  • Experience drafting press releases, pitches, media briefing documents, and related PR materials. 

  • Familiarity with the media landscape and a working knowledge of how to engage reporters across financial, consumer, and business outlets. 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and respond quickly to time-sensitive media opportunities. 

  • Comfortable supporting multiple projects at once and staying organized in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 

  • Familiarity with PR tools such as Muck Rack for media monitoring and outreach. 

  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset and a willingness to grow and take ownership of projects.

  • The targeted base pay range for this role is: $81,000 to $127,000 with this range reflecting differences in candidate knowledge, skills and experience.
