TITLE: Vice President, Corporate Development
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Vice President will be responsible for driving inorganic and strategic growth opportunities that align with the company's vision and objectives. This individual will lead efforts around M&A strategy, execution, and integration, while also spearheading strategic partnerships and collaborations to enhance the company's position in the market.
The successful Vice President will be an experienced M&A professional with a proven ability to develop and execute on an ambitious inorganic growth strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience across all facets of the M&A process including deal origination, due diligence, transaction structuring, managing intermediaries, and post-merger integration as well as overseeing the strategic partnership ecosystem. You will play an instrumental role in shaping Duck Creek Technologies’ growth strategy and be a high impact member of Duck Creek Technologies’ Senior Leadership Team.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer working closely with leadership in Marketing and Products and will have a high degree of exposure to the rest of the Executive Leadership Team and our sponsor. Mergers & Acquisition Strategy and Execution:
Develop and execute a comprehensive M&A strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
Conduct in-depth market and company research to build and maintain a prioritized list of potential M&A targets across market segments and adjacencies of interest.
Cultivate relationships with key C-level executives at possible M&A targets to determine interest levels, fit, synergy potential, valuation, and actionability.
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential acquisition targets and strategic investment opportunities.
Lead deal negotiations, diligence processes, and transaction execution, ensuring alignment with company goals and stakeholder expectations.
Partner with functional leaders to design and implement robust post-merger integration plans that maximize value creation.
Lead all company, industry, and financial due diligence on active deals.
Coordinate cross-functional teams within Duck Creek Technologies’ to support due diligence efforts across Product, Sales, Finance, HR as well as other functions.
Lead the creation of presentation materials and memos to support deal recommendations and approvals.
Work with and manage intermediaries as required throughout the deal process including legal financial, and technical advisers.
Work cross-functionally to support post-merger integration efforts, as required.
Strategic Partnerships:
Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships and alliances to enhance the company’s market position, customer base, and product offerings working closely with Product leadership.
Negotiate partnership agreements, joint ventures, and other collaborative initiatives to drive mutual growth.
Corporate Strategy and Market Expansion:
Collaborate with the CFO and other Executive Leadership Team members to define and refine the company’s long-term strategy, focusing on growth through both organic and inorganic channels.
Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decision-making and identify gaps in market presence.
Drive market entry strategies, including international expansion, to accelerate growth in new geographies and adjacent products.
Private Equity (Vista Equity Partners) Collaboration:
Serve as the primary liaison with Vista Equity Partner board of directors and investment committee effectively communicating progress on growth initiatives and corporate strategy.
Ensure alignment with sponsor expectations, providing regular updates on M&A activity, strategic partnerships, and other corporate development initiatives.
Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with finance, operations, product, and sales teams to ensure seamless execution of initiatives.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across the organization.
WHAT YOU’VE DONE:
Bachelor’s or Masters Degree and/or equivalent experience relevant to functional area
10+ years of experience in Corporate Development (ideally in a PE-backed company), Private Equity, Investment Banking, and/or Management Consulting
7+ years supervisory and strategic leadership experience
Proven track record of leading successful M&A transactions, including deal sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, and integration
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:
MBA preferred
Demonstrated interest in technology, enterprise software and experience in Insurtech or FinTech, a plus
Experience operating within a PE-backed, highly leveraged SaaS (Software as a Service) business
Demonstrated success in this role supporting complex, global organizations
Strategic mindset with a demonstrated ability to anticipate business needs, shape financial narratives, and influence decision-making at the executive level
Advanced proficiency with planning tools such as Adaptive Insights or Anaplan; strong Excel and financial modeling skills
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across departments and senior leadership
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a hands-on and visionary approach
Strong understanding of SaaS business models, key metrics, and market dynamics
Experience working in a private equity-backed environment, with familiarity in aligning with PE sponsor expectations and driving value creation
Exceptional strategic thinking, financial acumen, and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities
Significant experience with developing and executing on M&A strategy including thesis development, deal execution, and post-merger integration
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and to influence through data, insights, and storytelling
Build trust and rapport quickly at all levels of the organization including senior management
Mastery of Excel and PowerPoint
Strong desire to join a growth-oriented technology company
Creative problem-solver with ability to work independently and drive for results

Duck Creek Technologies supports a flexible-first work environment and has employees throughout the United States. Based on a fair and equitable compensation philosophy, we have five (5) United States pay markets based on regional validated survey market data. The expected salary range for this position is between $170,000 and $274,000. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The final compensation may vary due to the above-listed factors and be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
