Job description

Rockstar is recruiting for an innovative, fastgrowing edtech company that is transforming secondary master scheduling for schools through AI optimization and a team of experienced educators. This client is dedicated to saving school leaders time and resources, enabling them to build schedules that drive staffing and budget efficiencies. After a successful pilot and rapid national expansion, the company now serves schools across 14 states and Washington D.C., driven by strong productmarket fit, deep educational expertise, and a commitment to customer success.

Who they are

This client is a leader in secondary master scheduling, featuring AI optimization and support from a team of educators who have firsthand experience with scheduling. Their solution not only saves time and reduces headaches, but also unlocks resources so district and charter leaders can build schedules that drive staffing and budget efficiencies.

The company was founded to build the tool its founders wished they had when working in schools—aiming to save school leaders hundreds of hours while enabling district leaders to prioritize academics, budgets, and staffing. Their solution addresses the needs of both schoolbased employees who build schedules and central office employees who require visibility into them.

After completing a successful pilot during the 202223 school year, the company has scaled its impact across the country. Through a lean approach, it has achieved impressive growth—8.0x and 3.6x ARR increases in consecutive years—with extraordinary renewal rates (95% logo retention, 96% gross revenue retention). Today, the company serves schools across 14 states and Washington D.C., driven by strong productmarket fit, deep understanding of education, and a commitment to customer success.

About the role

As a data integrations engineer, this role operates across both engineering and customer success teams to ensure that customers can integrate with and leverage the scheduling technology for their needs. The data integrations engineer works closely with customer success team members to own a portfolio of clients who wish to integrate for their scheduling needs. Additionally, this role devises the architecture and patterns to generalize and scale the process of reliable integration across many clients, reducing the cost of such integrations over time. As an early engineer on this team, the data integrations engineer is responsible for establishing the culture and patterns that will allow the team to grow over time to serve even more customers.

Roles & Responsibilities

Own the ingestion, transformation, and export of data between district systems and the company’s data model and product.

Partner with customer success, SIS representatives, and district IT staff to plan out requirements for integration of a customer.

Meet with customers as needed to execute integration workflows and troubleshoot any challenges. Some travel may be required.

Work with the broader engineering team to generalize the process of data ingestion and export from customer systems.

Work with customer service to establish processes and institutional knowledge around data integrations with different districts.

Support efforts to grow the team and onboard new team members to serve more customers.

What they look for in candidates

Demonstrated experience leveraging communication and collaboration skills to work with customers and crossfunctional team members.

Ability and excitement to step into an early (seedstage) startup role, with urgency of execution, breadth of responsibilities, and opportunities for growth that come with it.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with mentoring, interviewing, and growing technical team members.

Experience working with school and district data as an educator, administrator, or IT staff member. Candidates with familiarity with school scheduling systems and SIS platforms are particularly encouraged to apply.
