Job Title: Senior Data Engineer, Compliance
Location: Hybrid (3 days remote), Toronto, Canada

Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a long-term engineering initiative with a Fortune 500 client. This role demands autonomy, attention to detail, and a deep passion for building scalable data solutions that deliver business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Architect scalable systems aligned with business requirements and long-term data strategy
Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines for batch and real-time processing
Automate cloud infrastructure, services, and observability layers to ensure operational efficiency
Drive the development of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
Collaborate with cross-functional data teams to establish engineering best practices
Analyze business challenges and use data to provide actionable recommendations
Deliver enterprise-grade analytics solutions focused on performance, segmentation, and growth
Design interactive dashboards and executive-level reporting assets

Must-Have Skills

5 - 7 years of experience in big data systems and large-scale data processing
3+ years of hands-on experience with Spark data frames, Spark SQL, and PySpark
Proficient in Python and SQL with a focus on modular, maintainable code
Strong command of SQL and experience with Hive and Snowflake
Skilled in using ETL workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow
Demonstrated ability to build reports using BI platforms like Power BI, Qlik, or Tableau
Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
Familiarity with data exploration tools such as Jupyter, EMR Notebooks, or Apache Zeppelin

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with Looker for data modeling and analytics

Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent practical experience accepted
