POSITION SPECIFICS
The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic professional to serve on an administrative team providing support to undergraduate academic advising, recruitment, career counseling, learning support, and engagement activities within the Ryan Family Student Center, a busy and exciting place centered on building student community and fostering student success.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS)
2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.

Duties include scheduling advising appointments; managing social media accounts, submitting work orders; reserving rooms; answering phones; handling inquiries from parents, prospective students, and current students; assisting with office communications and newsletters; arranging visits for prospective students and their families; and assisting with college recruitment, retention, and advising activities as well as other undergraduate programs.
The applicant will be responsible for overseeing center operations (ordering supplies, ensuring the café area is clean, helping to supervise student frontdesk workers), and covering the frontdesk duties when needed. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable software suite is required; familiarity with SIMBA, LionPATH, Slate, and Starfish systems is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills, flexibility in handling and prioritizing multiple tasks, and a strong commitment to teamwork and inclusiveness are essential.

Given the operational nature of this position, this employee will be expected to follow Penn States standard 40hour work schedule from 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with very limited remote work (approximately one day per month) available depending on the nature of the positions tasks. Afterhours and overtime work may be required with ample advance notice.

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $34,800.00 $55,500.00.
